Time to go back to what they did well ie. Nexus 5 etc?
Or is there too much competition now compared to the days of Nexus 5?
Deal is only for 64gb not 128gb

I think the isuee was they didn't make any money from the Nexus line.

They just need to pull their designers heads out of their rear ends and build a phone for today, not 2017. Imagine the pixel 4 with a wide angled cam, 4000mah battery, 128gb storage standard, and a warp charge equivalent. They'd sell them like hot cakes. Whoever decided on 2800mah needs a slap.

Morning, you well? X

I'm fine thx I thought I'd drop in and say hello
64GB or 128GB, @MrSwitch?

If you think about it...the "a" models are the closest thing to the old Nexus phones. They come in at a comfortable pricepoint, and have all the major perks of owning a stock Android phone.

I'm looking forward to the Pixel 4a and hopefully the £399 starting price will remain.

Camera wise, this or Samsung S10? Is there much in it? Not sure how much of the low light hype around the Pixels is true, and if there's a world of difference between them and other flagships.

I have the S10 having returned the Pixel due to cost and battery life.

The Pixel camera is way better and tussles with the 11 Pro, each other taking better shots depending on circumstance. S10 is nowhere near either.

Be warned though, despite the great battery life (my priority), the S10's under-screen fingerprint reader is garbage. If you intend to use it to unlock the device be prepared for multiple mis-reads until it (eventually) lucks in. Needed though for my banking apps which don't support the P4's face ID.

Just a quick comparative example from o2 on a sim only with 10gb data for £16pm
39898252-v5J6c.jpg
So 16 x 24 = £384 + £499 = £883

Of course if you're willing to try a different network for sim only you may get it cheaper

30gb on smarty for example for £10pm

So £499 + £240 = £739

Feel free to add better examples

And I give you a different example. On smarty, not everyone has £499 to spend on a sim free phone as well.

That's really useful, thank you. So in short, if camera is priority, Pixel 4 is the way to go. For battery life, the S10. Is the Pixel battery really appalling in comparison? As in, doesn't get you through a day with average browsing / listening to music? Bearing in mind I don't do gaming, or watch movies on my phone... any other pros/cons? Almost wondering if it's worth waiting to see what camera reviews for the S20 are like, but I know I'd have quite a wait for the price to come down to something reasonable.

I think that £399 is still too expensive for a phone that is only supported for a max of 3 years.
If Apple can offer 5 years support then why not Google?
I'm prob banging my head against a brick wall voicing this opinion but there you go.
I managed to get a Nokia 8 for £210 a while ago and though not stock Android it does it for me. Updated to 9.0 Pie which is better than some new phones still being sold.
Thanks for your insight though.
This is probably the best deal yet, sadly for the biggest Pixel disappointment yet. Was ready to pounce when it was released but there were (and still are) too many compromises.

I'm a Pixel lover, even call me a Pixel fanboy if you will, but the Pixel 4 really doesn't appeal to me. No fingerprint scanner... no original quality uploads to Google Photos included... just why? I'm hoping the Pixel 4a or Pixel 5 will be better to be honest

If the 5 doesn't swing back to the good old ways and have something outstanding, think the S20+ will come my way, still on the slowly dying 2XL and don't think the 3/4XL is worth it.
Used this as a benchmark when I called Vodafone for an upgrade. Managed to get the Pixel 4 for £28p/m with no up from payment with 20gb of data
