As you are known and well respected in this category, it would be great if you could impart some personal judgement into deals that aren't just monetary.Personally, a "deal" should be more than a couple quid knocked off, or the cheapest current price. A price comparison AI can do that, and probably did before this post.

Monetary?

I don't make money off my posts (for more information on that I direct you to the pep thread, otherwise our comments will get deleted)

I post the cheapest I think possible deals to help the community.

There are many phones I wouldn't buy, like any iPhone ever, but I still posted an iPhone 11 deal earlier.

People can ask my opinion, and if I don't like the phone I've posted I'll tell them that, just because I post a phone, doesn't mean if recommend it.

It might be the cheapest price for this phone from a UK retailer, but doesn't necessarily constitute a "deal". On a price standpoint it's heat; every other variables with this phone is Cold.

It has been discounted heavily multiple times within a few months of its release, the price and possible new RRP is now £519 on the Google store. <3000mah with a 90hz display and a general consensus within the tech/Android community that on a whole, this Pixel is very lackluster, should be a red flag to potential buyers.

As always, do your own research into investing this kind of money. Let's hope the 4a brings better news for the Pixel lineup.
Such a poor effort from Google. By the 4th generation device, I was expecting them to be giving Apple and Sammy a good bashing. Unfortunately the phones are only good for the bargain bin. Expect many Groupon deals relating to these...

Never said you gained financially through your posts. If your whole premise for posting a deal is the cheapest current price available, you should probably save your efforts and leave it to the price comparison AI's.

If you read the replies, i provided you with some positive criticism into imparting some personal input to your posts on why you think this a deal is good for hotukdeal members, which is probably to be expected as member of the Expert program.

You really don't understand how this forum works. It's not the poster who decides if a deal is good or not, but people with their votes.

Poster obviously believes there is a likelihood of that happening, but that doesn't translate automatically. Posters are free to include in description/thread personal opinions about product merits, Switch regularly does that but no one can be compelled to do so.

Nobody is forcing posters to include marketing blurb either. If retailers/brands are using their staff to post on this forum, maybe not much can be done about it, unless forum staff develop advanced detective skills, not in their job description.

Just sit back and enjoy the ride, nobody is forcing you to if you don't like it, and leave forum legends like MS in peace, who have contributed so much

Give the OP a break. If every post was subjected to your feedback then no one would post deals

@MrSwitch , I follow your phone / tech posts closely as I'm sure many do, and appreciate everything you bring to my attention, even though I have to be very careful with money and so only make a major purchase like a flagship phone once every 3-4 years or so. I wondered if, on your travels, you've ever come across a page / site that compares the cameras of all of the budget phones (Xiaomis etc), against the big hitters like Google, Samsung, Apple etc? A decent camera with great low-light performance is my next priority, and all I seem to be able to find are comparisons between Pixels, recent iPhones and Samsungs. I'd love to find an in-depth article comparing cameras on budget phones with their big brand counterparts. Any pointers at all please?
That's not threatening language from MS, you're mistaken @Midlanders

He was just pointing out that these kinds of arguments often are/go off-topic, and that's against forum rules.

As for MS, he's posted deals that have gone cold for whatever reason, there's always a risk, it doesn't bother him. His success rate is pretty remarkable I have to say...

You're doing good Switchy, this must be the most over priced phone in existence, Google couldn't catch enough balls to drop with this phone. Even at this price it's eye wateringly over priced. Proprietary Facelock which doesn't have the support of enough apps. Pointless Soli Radar gesture nonsense, lack lustre hardware, an old AMOLED panel. 90Hz if it can be bothered. Computational Photography on Android is Pixel, and that's just about your lot. on IOS you have tons of 3rd party computational photography apps, Still using the same old same old 12mp sensor, lacks ultra wide camera, doesn't have dual aperture camera. Lots to hate about this phone. If this was £350 I still wouldn't want it and I'm a Pixel 2 user. You can't win with this phone, it's a dog, woof woof Google, Pixel 5 is your last chance, do it properly next time and judging by this phone not many people think you can do it. Does anyone really think a Pixel 5 will be anywhere near a match for a Samsung S20 Ultra 5G? Google have until October to release their Pixel 5 and already people are ringing the death knell for Google and their crappy phone hardware.

The Pixel 4 is so bad and so over priced that Google have Skoda'd themselves with this one.

In America, i think they have a BOGOF offer on these phones.. Which probably says a lot.

I'm hoping the 4a could salvage the Pixel line until the release of the Pixel 5.

Google phones are still great and quite frankly one of, if not the most secure phone on the market with the Titan M security chip embedded in most of the pixel lineup. Including the 3a. Camera is second to none, flagship SoC, free cloud storage ect.. Then they let it all go with small capacity non removable battery and crazy prices. Shame really.
Edited by: "Midlanders" 18th Feb
I've read so many OTT comments about how bad Pixel 4 is that I'm tired. I'd just mention that it's probably better than Pixel 3, which was already a very good phone...

I can’t believe they have bogof on these phones. I don’t think I have ever heard of that before
I really want a pixel phone but the way this keep dropping in price makes me a little nervous 😬 I have always been an avid apple user but the pixel line up have managed to catch my eye (esp the pixel 3). One thing I’m not keen on is the rounded corners on the screen. Just think it’s looks a tad bizarre. That’s like having rounded corners on a tv. Or maybe I’m not that forward thinking

The BOGOF happens all the time in the US. Last year T-Mobile did it with the S10+ and the Note 10.

I agree. I’ve just bought a pixel 4 XL (coming from an iPhone) and it’s absolutely incredible. Yes there are better phones out there but I wanted a truly brilliant camera and constant updates. I truly don’t understand the hate.
Probably the cheapest in the market but to me its cheap plastic and the battery sucks!!!
I still do not understand why the heck a company like google cameup with cheap plastic and low specs.

Nonetheless, security and software is meticulous.

4XL is incredible but its 4 which sucks! However, I still fee the hardware for these pixel phones are on the slightly lower side when compared to Apple, Samsung, OnePlus and few other Chinese companies.
