That maybe but there are better alternatives now without going down the Apple route. Should be cheaper than this buy now for a tablet released in 2015.

Nope. Or rather, let's try sticking to Android as an alternative for an Android device.

Not that I can think of many well specced android tablets atm.

none with remotely close customer service
I am stiil waiting for the long due nougat update for my asus z580c

I think Android tablets are their way out once all Chromebooks support Android apps.

I personally would buy touch screen CB with stylus that can be used in tablet mode. I think it will be more future proof with regards to OS updates. Plus, the keyboard comes for free.

LOL, dream on, how long has that been coming now? By the time it's here, if it ever comes, you'll be looking to upgrade whatever you buy now. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Chromebooks but am realistic about what I can use them for.

Many thanks for the reminder, hadn't checked my local library for ages and am pleased to see they've finally moved into the 21st century.

I have one, it is probably the best android tablet joint with tab s3 but it is still expensive for what it is, i would recommend most things other than it, an ipad is probably better value and more reliable, better performance, Chromebooks are cheaper and more useful for most people, a cheap chinese android tablet will be good enough for most people, if you want a good tablet with keyboard i recommend a windows one, as you can do so much more on it. I really like it but i have to have a laptop as well for proper typing and mouse, pc games and video editing. Also they have a hardware problem where the touch on the screen stops working and the display glitches, this has happened to me 3 times so i currently have my 4th pixel c, now my warranty has run out so if it breaks again i am stuck.

Let's face it, the iPad is the king of tablets ... you may not want to believe that.

If you get the latest Samsung CB, a bit pricey, it's much better than any Android tablets out there at the moment.
With Android support, there is no reason to buy Android tablet anymore. The only use case that I think Android tablet is better than a CB is for Sat Nav because it's smaller.

I've been given an iPad through work and I've been waiting patiently for this price drop so I can get rid of it. Very hot!

If you spend loads you can get one of the very few CBs that can do that but they are also a lot more bulky than a lot of people want and the Android support is a long way from perfect. Annoying, yes, Apple currently offer the best product but I guess Google recognised that the tablet market is shrinking at a rapid rate so decided to concentrate elsewhere. For a lot of people large screen phones do the job of both but if, like me, you prefer a bigger screen to lug around the home then a 9/10" tablet is far more convenient than a CB can ever be. Personal preference as ever!

Agree! X1 it is still strong. It is used in the Nintendo switch. It's a hot deal for me. This tablet never will let you down. I have since 3 years ago two Nvidia shield and they are very fast yet with the k1 so with the x1 you should get a tablet for five years easily.

CBs are relatively cheap compared to the Pixel C in the USA. However, we in the UK, the value is not that great for the latest CBs. I still have the Nexus 9 and Yoga Tab 3 Pro ... but I use them less and less. I use the Tab 3 for watching Netflix because of the excellent screen & sound. I have to use a headphone when watching on my CB.

Its too expensive for only 3GB ram. As someone else has said, should have been this price 2 years ago.

Is this worth upgrading to, from my Nexus 9?

having said that, I took the bite this morning.

very nice tablet, personally don't think there has been a better tablet than the galaxy s for watching videos with its wide oled screen but for everything else this is probably still the best andorid tablet especially for gaming.

I was looking at tablets s while a go, and tried this and the Sony z4. Both were okay, but not worth the £300+ I was paying so I returned.

I picked up a Samsung Tab A 10.1 for £125 from Argos refurb, and it's been perfect for me and general use.

Cool, let us know how you get on.

I wouldn't buy this anymore, too old and price still high IMO.

Samsung's tablets are overpriced as well but at least they've got expandable storage and OLED displays.

Recently got a good deal on an almost new 2nd hand 9.7" Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 when for not much extra i could have had this beauty. The S2's OLED display looks wonderful for general surfing, games, reading etc but as for viewing some movies, TBH i prefer my old Nexus 9. A lot of movies tend to be darkly lit these days and with an OLED display, the muted colours can tend to be a bit too dark. I am playing around with the settings but nothing seems to make much difference.

Google C worth the upgrade from a Nexus 9? If the 16GB model (like mine) then defo if only for the extra storage. If the 32GB model then other than the slightly bigger screen on the Pixel C an upgrade would be nice but not essential.

Good deal. Hot.

few quick questions if anyone can help please

Is this massively bigger than my current 2013 Nexus 7
Is it running Android 8.0
will these units have been manufactured fairly recently

Thanking you all in anticipation of your replies

Google Store says it comes with Android 7.1.1 Nougat, but my understanding is that it will be upgraded to 8.0 Oreo.

Brought this last for that price from google

People keep saying it’s old tech - yet I’ve not seen anyone post a better tablet other than an iPad??

seriously tempted...

I caved. I even bought the £75 keyboard as they are much more than that elsewhere.

Spending far too much this month, Black Friday hasn't even hit yet!

I don't need one, as per hotukdeals requirement, but my Nexus 10 is more sluggish than I'd like with it being my main android tablet, and with 400+ apps and games on. So I'll make my Pixel C my prime entertainment/gaming device, and give my nexus 10 a more single-use type function.

It's funny as I never thought I'd buy another 10" Android tablet after the Nexus line was killed. But it's nice to have to reduce use on phone battery, plus a bigger screen.

Thanks (and damn you) robjw_2001!

I reinstalled my Sony Xperia tablet Z and it's much quicker. Took about three hours.

I love this tablet. I have previously owned a nexus and Hudl and even though this is more expensive it beats the others hands down. Faster, better display and very reliable. I bought mine at £399 and consider this a good buy when at that price.

This looks like a great deal. However, as we're trying to save money, do you need it? I spend a lot on hardware for work but still manage with my iPad 3 retina for non-PC stuff. The Pixel C should be fine for years to come, unless you are impatient

Just ordered this as an early Christmas gift to myself. Thanks Op.
