Is this the normal price, it seems very expensive for what it is.
Google abandoned tablets altogether, it would be a mistake to purchase any tablet made by Google.

They stopped making new tablets themselves but haven't stopped making Chrome OS. Also, they haven't exited from Chrome devices. They will continue to make Chrome notebooks.

Potato - potato! They are not committed and all these devices suck. Buy an iPad and have fun.

Abandoned “tablets”, not “updates”.

Abandoned is the wrong word then.
"No longer" making tablets would have been better.

Potato or Pineapple... does not matter. Chrome OS is going no where. Wake me up when iPad can run Linux apps/containers (That is fun to me not playing Fruit Ninja)
Big fan of Chromebooks, but for me, their main selling point is being cheap and easy to use. My 4GB Asus was £220 and does 99% of what I do daily

Nobody needs an iPad to run Linux lol. People like you are not the customers that Apple is after and you make up literally less than 0.000001% of the population.
I know it’s harsh, but you and your opinion is not important to Apple or others.
If iPad couldn’t run games then it would have mattered to Apple.

People looking at the Slate (in the main) are looking at it from a productivity standpoint. That's generally your developers, management, etc... Android based operating system (ChromeOS, etc...) make up a disproportionate part of the mobile/tablet market. Apple isn't as big a brand as you might think outside of the States. Android devices can actually interface with Windows machines, which is invaluable to many who opt not to use Apple's restrictive offerings.

In short, I know its harsh but, your opinion probably doesn't have much bearing on people looking at the Pixel Slate, tinkerers, most of the people not using Apple devices.

Dude, you are talking about iPad on a Chrome OS device deal page. I understand you don't like Chrome OS for various reasons and prefer iPad and that's really OK!. Horses for courses!. I was pointing out why someone would like need a device based on a Chrome OS. There clearly is a market share for Chrome devices. If you can't see it, I can't won't help you because it clearly is not my job or brings me any joy.

By the way, "Potato - potato!" is not exactly English either. So, stop questioning my English skills which I never claimed I'm proficient at to begin with anyway.

Just as well I am not one of those paranoid people who believes I should be on the latest and greatest software level then.
As long as it continues to work, that's all that matters to me.

Unfortunately these Android posts always attract the Apple fanboys.

Not really as a huge number actually are without realising I only know a small handful of Mac users who use Safari, the vast majority, like myself, use Chrome albeit most think it's just another simple browser app rather than the behemoth it really is.

Either way, it was Sam021 showing his total ignorance about what this product was in the second post that skewed the conversation.
