Just saw this Google Pixel XL in my local Currys for £399. If you are interested in this particular phone, you might wanna check your local Currys as it's becoming a bit difficult to get hold of this model due to low stock.

Mate you're doing a really hard sell on the N8 on like every phone deal right now. You on the Nokia payroll or did you just buy one and are trying to justify your purchase?

Apart from having a smaller screen, with it not being AMOLED, not on Android 8 yet, unknown with regard to future updates beyond 8, lacks 120P video capture:

Amazing price for a phone that only came out last year. Even the iPhone 6s hasn’t dropped this low

Thanks for the reminder but this will be a duplicate as it had been posted at least once in the last thirty days.

Some folk it could simply be brand loyalty.
Ordered the N8 myself.

Are the cameras not much better on the Pixel range? Want the Pixel XL 2 personally as it has a phenomenal camera!

Pity it's only 32gb. Phone fills up too quickly with apps and stuff.

I got this and the camera is very good, I'm glad I went for it at this price. So far so good 😁

The Nokia 8 is a pretty decent spec mobile at a good price. A good alternative to any mobile out there.

Helpfully comment. Also wrong. It was one of the best rated phones from last year and is around 1/2 the price of the latest model.

Yes I believe it's the best value SD835 phone out there, so I put my money where my mouth is and bought one last month.

Turned out to be everything I expected and more.

Camera hardware is superb but the stock android doesn't do it justice. Pixel camera APK improves that.

Amoled screens are not necessarily always better, look at pixel2, LG v30, iPhone X, all got their own issues. You'll find that Nokia 8 ips screen has actually been highly rated and is gorgeous in real use.

The 5.3" screen size actually feels larger than my previous 5.5" screen on G4 as Nokia 8 has dedicated hard back/home/task buttons which do not eat in to screen space when browsing/navigating the phone.

Nokia been true to their word and phone been fully patched up to date.

Oreo update imminent.

32GB ROM was barely enough on my old G4. 64GB ROM is a minimum for me now plus got the luxury of additional microsd slot.

Sorry but pixel is at least one if not two generations too old and the limited 32GB ROM with no microsd is crippling on a high end phone.

I see Amazon have just dropped it to £390 so I would recommend everyone to save £10 and get a better phone which is truly high end in every way.

It's actually just over one year old and of course storage is a personal issue so there is no absolute amount that is required so saying its crippled is a purely subjective experience.
Personally I'm glad that the big boys have generally moved to 64GB as a base but for many it's an irrelevance.

I'm an android fanboy. Use Google photos to offload all my pictures. All my files are cloud based. However, WhatsApp alone can eat in to the ROM space. Without the option of microsd 32GB ROM (usable 23GB) is a major limitation on a £400 phone.

I had truly hoped Google wouldn't have jumped on the Apple bandwagon and offered a microsd slot on their phones. Seems like they are hellbent on imitating instead of innovating. Like removing 3.5mm jack. Got nothing to do with IP68 which Samsung managed quite well on S8

If you require more physical storage it's an issue regardless of the price of the phone.
Considering how many people own iPhones with 32GB or less I'd say you are in the minority even when it comes to premium priced phones. That's all I'm saying.

You can't compare a £400 iPhone to a £400 android.
Apple 🐑 who want to spend £400 on a low/mid range phone and a crippled iOS designed for simpletons, can live with 32GB ROM.

£400 in the android world will buy you a top class high end phone that can compete with £1000 iPhone X.
The fact that you can do so much more on an open OS like android means you will quickly eat in to 32GB.

When you have a micro SD slot you always have the option to expand.

Unfortunately Apple and Google both take that flexibility away from you.

Thankfully Samsung/LG still give it, although they aren't charities either and trying to maximise profit so pushing up prices.

One plus was the only good value phone after Google switched from Nexus to Pixel range.
However, you need to think hard before you get one plus too because again no microsd slot.

Fortunately Nokia came to the rescue with a great value, pure android phone which isn't crippled in any department.
It's even got a 3.5mm jack!

Ramble all you like but what you are missing is that other people have different requirements than you so why try and make as if your requirements are some objective truth!
Personally I have zero interest in the Nokia 8 because the screen is too small but I'm not going to try and convince others that makes it a poor choice for them.
One way of looking at it is to say which would you prefer at the same price if they both had the same screen size and storage facilities?
My first thought would be too choose the Pixel but I'd certainly research the Nokia 8 more if it passed my basic requirements.

Not forcing anyone to do anything.

It's a free world.

Just speaking from experience.

nokia 8.....small screen & small battery lets it down

That's what I thought after seeing reviews.

Try one in real life and you'll see that battery is epic (probably because of stock android and crazy heat pipe so it hardly ever gets warm).

Screen is actually larger than you think due to dedicated hard buttons for back/home/task keys, so no eating in to valuable screen space.

Good point but it's when I watch videos that I really appreciate the larger screen so the hardware buttons make no difference then.

Up-voting all your own posts is a rather unusual tactic!

Or a Nokia 8 for even less, with the added flexibility of microsd slot and a better screen resolution. Plus not having to feed back all your phone usage to the Chinese

iTS not Rom its ram or nand.. you cant store anything n ROM
NB You can still get the previous nexus phones online ...

None available in Currys

No stock at my local. Saw the Nokia 8, meh.

That's tough to know without knowing the exact subject but in case of the use on this thread:

ROM has been incorrectly used to reference the 32GB NAND.

However, you can store stuff in ROM as it has to be written at least once at some point and then read many Its also used as a pretty universal term now when flashing ROMs to the NAND cells. I won't go into the irregularities of that sentence though.

I'm expecting £330 in black friday. I paid this amount for my nexus 5x two years ago. Otherwise i will take oneplus 5t or htc u11+.

I hope but at this moment that gosships only.

Own a 128gb version and the Nokia 8 isn't even in the same league.. Nokia 8 competes with the Sony, Oneplus etc this phone more so with the likes of the S8, iPhones. If you're after a similar size to the Nokia 8 try look for the Pixel 128gb non XL. Imo 32gb is way too low unless you literally only call text and take pictures (unlimited cloud storage) . Apps will start eating away at it
