I know the Google Pixel was reduced over the weekend at Carphone Warehouse but now the Pixel XL has come down in price by £220.

32GB - £499.99
128GB - £599.99

Edit - the 32GB version has been reduced by another £20. Now £499.99. (Thanks joostme!)

Needs to drop further for me to take the plunge.. Too pricey !!!
Much more palatable price, but still a bit much for most people I'd imagine.
Hopefully will fall still further before Pixel 2 suggested release date of Oct.
Would have to be nearer £450 before I bite.
In the meantime I'm looking fwd to release of Nokia in a couple of weeks. Could be interesting.
I know this is going cold faster than anything but can anyone find the Pixel XL cheaper new elsewhere?! I can't understand why this is so cold when the standard Pixel was hot yesterday!

People simply don't wanna pay £100+ for screen upgrade ONLY.
Cheapest it has been if I'm not mistaken? If this was the launch price it would have sold millions more. I think it's getting cold votes more so because you're now paying flagship money for a year old phone, some may rather wait couple months and pay the extra £200 for the new one.

Most people aren't willing to pay an extra £120 for the XL over the regular pixel

I'm personally waiting for the Pixel 2 to see what that has to offer before I upgrade my 3 year old HTC one m8, I was tempted by the Pixel for £400 but if I wanted the XL I'd wait for sub £500, still a lot of money and its bound to drop even further once the Pixel 2 is announced

Hi Bhav007, explain what this means please. How does a consumer get staff discounts?

Nice one. Want to buy 2 and send one my way? 😁
Just tried to buy one. I'm self employed so thought I would put it through the business and claim the vat back. But CPW won't accept business cards. You have to go through the business team. And the phone is over £100 more expensive before you add the vat. Needless to say I will wait till others start discounting it.
got the black yesterday moving from the nexus 5x. Very nice upgrade, very pleased to get it with a couple of hundred off. I don't think it will drop much more when the pixel 2 arrives to be honest given that this has been plagued with supply problems I doubt there's a huge stockpile anywhere. Pixel 2 is rumoured to be 4.97 inch with the larger being up to 5.99 inch which is too small and too large for me. Also the premium price that google is expected to ask, I couldn't afford, buying this was a push but so far I'm happy and the stock android is a dream to use.

BTW it has now dropped to £499.99 in carphone warehouse making it slightly hotter than it was yesterday

I'm a few weeks in from purchasing this, I've no wish to appear like a fanboy for any particular product but I can't help myself on this one. I never buy new phones, I always wait until the next version is out and buy last seasons for cost reasons so I spent a lot on this but it's been totally worth it, the phone itself is amazing, I can't praise the pure Android experience enough, it's a dream to use, simple, fluid and fast. The screen is lovely and the camera excels, I take a lot of pictures to upload to maps and they all look stunning whether it be a landscape or a close up, they are all amazing and better than i can get from my Sony A6000 (okay i'm not a pro) you simply point and shoot and every result is impressive. In terms of looks and bezels, I don't care, I buy a phone to use and the user experience this delivers is better than I have had in any phone ever. I've had such a great experience in the last few weeks that I would now consider buying the pixel 2 at launch if it offers a significant improvement in performance but if it does, I would have to say that this will have to be an incredible phone. Well done google on your first real effort and thanks to the poster of this offer.

Btw i'm sad enough to say that I'm desperately trying to have an affair with the google assistant, it works , almost brilliantly, roll on the future.

There is no reason why you can't buy this from CPW at the reduced price and then ask them for a VAT invoice so that you can reclaim the VAT.
AFAIK there is no legal reason why a retailer can refuse you a VAT invoice which will show the VAT that you can then reclaim as "input" tax.

The problem seem to be that I want to use my business card and have my company name on the invoice. They just won't entertain this. I could pay on my personal card or draw the cash out of the business account, but that makes it more complicated. ( Online back that charge for cash withdrawals from a hole in the wall.) Will have to have a chat with the accountant to find the best most tax efficient way.

My gripe is it should not be this hard. Just take my bloody money.
Went to a different CPW. They took my money, no questions asked.

I was waiting for the £499 price point. Your post pointed me to the point I could no longer sit on my hands. Thanks, I think

Hi just wanted to ask I'm assuming you got the pixel XL 32gb for £500? It's £400 now and so tempted to grab a 128gb but not on CPW website 😑 have a feeling they will no longer replenish the old 128gb stock and may have to deal with 32gb.

no worries , hope you got one and are enjoying it, there's not doubt in my mind google are asking premium price on this because they know the camera is special (even almost of year after release) and because they know that bare bones Andriod
