I'm expecting this to go cold based on the original price however amazing reviews for this device. Next best price is £999.99 at Curry's and John Lewis the only other two sellers of this Chromebook. Add the Google Home speaker and receive it free of charge on checkout.

Would be worth checking delivery times. Currently states 2 weeks.

Yes, those are the exact criteria for being on this site or not.
Will definitely buy this at £699 next year.

Buy a proper laptop fr this price.... meh
Read the reviews and saw the tablet in the flesh (ehhh aluminium!) and it is a gorgeous device.
Hot but personally: I was in the market for a laptop and had 1k I would still spend it on a slim/thin Windows laptop. The usual discussion: even now new Chromebooks support Android apps I would struggle to justify spending more than I would on a premium tablet (say £300 or maybe £350 for stellar build quality), alas

Of course it’s the best Chrome book. It’s the latest. Same like the IPhone X it’s the best IPhone because it’s the latest.

Is it any good though that’s a different story

Fantastic device and excellent design and build quality. Too expensive for me at the moment but at £500-600 I'd bite.

Look after the pennies and the pounds look after themselves.

I'm unlikely to buy one myself (or any laptop that costs a grand as it happens) but it's clear that while there are some things it cannot do those it does do it does very well and that the build quality is top notch.

Why are these machines becoming so expensive? They are built to run a web browser and Android apps.
Google is making Apple look cheap.

In my experience RICH people are ahem.. 'careful' with their money and are always looking for a deal. Don't let that chip weigh too heavily on your shoulder.

THIS IS A CHROMEBOOK!! Runs the web and chrome apps!!
But its £900!!!! more than most descent laptops!

Not sure how spending £900 on a device like this is being "careful" with your money as you say.

what a strange way to look at things....
Machines should be seen as tools to do what you want to do, price is subjective for everyone. Irecently switched to Chromebook from macbook and find Chromebook extremely good value and simpler for my daily requirement. Will not be missing macbook at all. However, this price of pixelbook is certainly high, I will rather prefer my Asus C302ca flip which I got for 429£'s from Amazon. C302 flip has similar build quality as pixelbook, costs half.
I upgraded from the pixel to the pixel 2 despite there being no real differences.
I own several Google homes/minis/chromecasts
Some might say I'm a Google fanboy.
I had this pre-ordered and I canceled it as it's not worth the price because there are better options available.
Many of the reviews you posted state this....

I only use Google drive and google apps now so thinking of moving towards a Chromebook away from a PC. I'm not sure how cheap it will go but I was hoping Samsung would release the Pro in the UK however doesn't look like they will. I'm looking towards a top end Chromebook so maybe will be the Asus for the cheaper price.
Still way too much software that only runs on Windows to pay this much for a Chrome based machine in my view...
Anyone know of any decent laptops around this price with a decent screen (1080p/4K) and atleast 8gb ram? Cheers.

Seems you like commenting on Google deals. You obviously don't understand anything about the latest tech and have no interest in buying anything you comment on so why do it?

It seems you like trolling so people give you attention. That's sad.

Ps. If you quote and reply to this..that will be confirmation of all of the above.

Thanks OP for posting a good deal and contributing to the HUKD community.

You can try getting Samsung chrome pro from Amazon US. Even with customs duty added, it shows 480£'s for delivery in UK.

899 to browse chrome :-)

They probably also have internet and electricity costs. As well as a house with heating and a desk. Probably costs about £250k to browse chrome.
Personally, I would go for a £300 Chromebook over a £900 one.

However, if I could do what I needed to do with a Chromebook, had the money, and wanted something where you turn it on, wait a few seconds and start typing, then one of these would be fine.

£900 gets you a decent Windows laptop, but you either have the choice of letting it update itself automatically, and sometimes losing work when it reboots for an update, or turning off the automatic updates, applying them yourself and then finding that stuff doesn't work properly.

Downsides with a Chromebook are that you need to choose a printer carefully, and ideally get one that supports Cloudprint, and that the support for Microsoft Office documents is OK but not great.

My kids and my mum each have Windows laptops and Chromebooks. The Chromebooks just work. The Windows laptops need work to keep them running smoothly.

Absurd price for a Chromebook.

I use a Chromebook for MOST of my daily stuff and it is great (except no PgUp/PgDown/Home/End buttons for tyipng text) and agree, your Asus is probably the best option right bnow, followed by the Acer R13 - no need to spend all that £££ on a Pixelbook, and same for:
However, in the US they have the Samsung Chromebook Pro and Samsung Chromebook Plus (the Pro is the best bet) and those are the kings of Chromebooks in my opinion (although I've not seen/touched those myself). And that is one of the Chromebook issues: why would any enterprise customer spend millions to get their apps in the Google ecosystem if premium Chromebooks like those are not available worldwide?

So all "rich" people just splurge money without shopping around?

This device is obviously aimed at Millennials, not normal people.

A grand for a Chromebook is nothing really when you're used to paying a fiver for a cup of coffee. Just add it to your student loan, and the cost will be written off in 25 years. Simples
Chromebook = idiot proof Internet device for people who click yes and install viruses all over a windows install.

No way any chromebook should be over £499 they're just too limited vs a "normal" Windows/Linux machine

All imho of course
