This has come round again! It may be for selected accounts, but last time they had 50% off - there was a code that applied it to other accounts - 'ALBUM2015'. This code is *no* longer valid.

To find out if you have the album offer, scroll down the Music page, it's usually about half way down. Some people are getting 30% off, some are getting 50% off, and some are getting both! Some people have found that trying different internet browsers will get different results.

For the movie offer, scroll down the movie page.

From the site, for the 50% music offer:

Get 50% off any Album
For a limited time, get 50% off any one album of your choice, including the collection below. Just choose the album you want, and the discount will be applied at checkout. Redeem by September 8, 2016.

Must be redeemed on Google Play from compatible Internet-connected devices using a Google account. Limit 1 per user. Offer available until September 8, 2016. Google Payments account required. Valid in US, Canada, Australia, Great Britain, Germany and France. Nontransferable. No cash value. Cannot be used in conjunction with other offers or discounts. Age restrictions apply. I got the 50% off. Bought Tidy XX for £3.99 instead of £7.99 using my google rewards credits, so pretty much free. Good spot!
Just a heads up, thats the 1st time ive bought music on there so maybe thats why it gave me the 50%?
30% for me. Wondering how the discount is calculated for individual users.

People still BUY albums? Really? You can listen to everything you've ever dreamed of for £10 a month? What am I missing?

Not all artists/labels have deals with streaming services, some people like lossless formats that may take too much bandwidth to stream, some people spend less than £120 a year on music, including some (maybe older) people who prefer to listen to music they own already than most of what's coming out now, but may, for example, get that new Bing Crosby remaster... just a few reasons off the top of my head.

Because you can't. There's loads of stuff NOT available on streaming services as the other poster pointed out.
Spotify is so much better, you pay £10 a month and you can listen to any album you can think of. Buying albums just doesn't make sense anymore, licensing them is the future.

OK - fair enough. I must have more mainstream tastes!

FLAC vs 320kbps - not convinced most people can tell the difference in a blind test and certainly not with some of the kit I see people using (especially cheap headphones).

But the availability point is fair enough.
Meh, I only got the 30% off, pretty poor really, don't see why they can't just give everyone the 50%, guess I haven't spent enough with them though giving me less of a discount will hardly encourage me to spend more!

Redeemed it into my account on the off chance but doubt I'll bother using it for 30%, like many I've mostly turned to streaming now anyway, yes they don't have everything but they have enough range and variety for the vast majority of us....
Thanks I got 50% off
