Buy a Chromecast with Google TV and a Stadia Controller I think they're bundled at £89.99 at the moment which is a great price.

IMO Google TV is better than Apple TV (I have both) and Apple TV is like £180 on it's own

Also IMO the Stadia controller is better than any other I have used - I have PS5 and XBox controllers at home and it's nicer to hold and use then both and once again they both controllers sell for like £60 each which makes this bundle a steal.

The downside is the Stadia controller and pretty much only be used for Stadia I believe there is support for xCloud too but that's it.

Stadia as a service IMO is great, it's far from perfect but there are lot of couch multiplayer games available on Pro and some great single player games - i'd say I enjoy a good 60% of the Pro games.

There is some problems with Stadia it has a poor UX lots of scrolling through games, you can't find out about the games in your library without having to go into the store and finding it - no search in games library and no filtering really on the store or library. There is an issue with getting AAA games on board but just games I like are available. I believe Google are working to make porting games to Stadia so this may change soon.

I have a PS5 and as a family we play stadia far more - its convient you click and go no download, updates to worry about, but you do need a decent internet connection with low latency.

I love how I can play console games on my phone on the go - get a case with a stand and bring a controller and you're good to go on the move! I have a folding phone so I basically have a tablet in my pocket which is great.

On mobile they do have touch controls if you forget your controller but I hate that I find it difficult to use, but nice to have the option all the same!

Says a lot that even at this price I just don't care to bother.

Stadia has great tech, but it's such a mess of a service

There's no such console, you either use your phone and a Bluetooth controller or a Chromecast and stadia controller. The service still isn't that great though, not worth if it you you already own a Xbox/playstation

Don't know if this is still the case, but when I signed up to Stadia Pro using a trial I got £10 off my first game: so I got Borderlands 3 for £2.99. Even if you cancel your Stadia Pro subscription, any games you buy are still yours to keep and play on Stadia, albeit at reduced settings. (1080p, 60fps max, etc)

Shambles and overpriced games. Tech is great and really convenient but games are ridiculously priced. Used for a month and played Hitman to the furthest I could go then had to pay £50 to buy the game when on other consoles it was £20 and less.

    Yes you can

    hellojoe209/05/2022 00:31

New gamivo acc or new stadia acc needed?

Not necessarily, if Google account has never signed up to stadia paid pro service it should work fine.

I tend to just add the account to Google family that way you can share service across your whole family and access it via your main Google account. When it ends remove account and rinse and repeat.

As long as you are just using the included games and not purchasing additional games etc than easiest way. (edited)

I bought the HUKD deal re the Google Chromecast Ultra and a Stadia Controller late last year. It came with free Stadia Pro which recently expired. I think I played one game as there was not much to interest me and I already have Xbox Ultimate Game Pass which spoils me a bit! So now I use the Google Chromecast Ultra to get content on a bedroom tv and am just buying a cable to connect the controller to my Android phone / tablet to play Xbox games on there as Info online says the blue tooth only works for Stadia.

I love it personally, great for if you don’t have a console connected to your tv and just want a couple hours on a game. Yeah there’s some trash games but a decent selection of good titles too

Does anyone know how easy it is to setup a new account to use this trial? Im guessing it’s only a case of having to use a different payment method?

I got the stadia plus chromecast twenty quid deal around Xmas and got the stadia controller working on my pc... Has to connect to the motherboard direct rather than the front panel connectors of the case or an extension... Then either have to change a setting in steam or download a GitHub tool and then works fine in games.

Got round to opening it as my old controller broke. Chromecast still unused though!

Worth it just to trial but pretty poor selection of games and quite a lot of lag. Definitely not worth it if you have ps4+ or xbox gold. I'm glad I got the controller and a chromecast for ~£16 a while back - when controller can only really be used for stadia, its not worth any more than that.

I'm fairly sure Google offer this for free if you have a trial/paid YouTube Premium account, which is automatically applied at registration. So you should be able to sign up for a trial of YouTube premium and get at least 3 months of Stadia Pro free.. Posting because I hate seeing these grey market leeches constantly charging for things that are free.

Depend on your network mine is ok at best speeds and I have no lag - I've got to Chromecasts one is Ethernet connection and I run 4k flawlessly and upstairs wifi and I run on 1080p flawlessly if you can run it over Ethernet I would, I'd say for the cost the game selections aren't bad but all depends on what kind of gamer you are.
