Ruth...baby. baby...Ruth.

Watch this more often than you'd think. It's still a great film and stands well against today's releases for kids.
Awesome. Bought!

Those scenes such as the octopus are on there as extras along with the stop ‘n’ snack store, data’s spy eyes. Many of the other deleted scenes have never yet been unearthed...

It’s amazing how many of those 80’s family films have swearing and more amazing how I missed it as a kid . Watched short circuit with my 7 year old son and nearly fell of my chair lol

The regular edition is in the 5 for £30 deal at HMV for those not as interested in the art cards.
Can anyone tell me what the extras are in the box, looks like a storyboard or something? Thanks

Another future classic right there! Captured the era of my 80s childhood perfectly! God I miss those days
Life was so much more simpler then.
Thanks bagged one. Have find memories of this film, we even went to Astoria a couple of years ago to see some of the sights shown in the movie. Lovely place!
UHD?
Ordered thanks. Bought it from Zavvi for £12.74 but the first copy and the replacement both arrived damaged. Got the refund yesterday. Thanks to Zavvi using flimsy cheap jiffy bags, saved £2.75.

I had the same thought - I reckon it's because many of us watched these movies on the TV. Which means that we watched edited, family's safe versions of these films when growing up.

They didn't have 12 and 12a certs back then. It they did it would have been a 12a at the cinema and a 12 for the home entertainment release like the Marvel films are now.

My point was that most of us would have watched The Goonies on the TV, and so all the swearing would have been edited out. That may be why we don't remember any swearing. Just a thought.

The full version wasn't released in the UK until 2004. Prior to the DVD release we'd only had the PG version in cinemas and vhs.

Yes, but when it was broadcast on TV, it would have been edited, with the swearing removed, due to being broadcast before the watershed.
That's why some of us who watched this movie as kids won't remember any swearing, and why its surprising to some of us.

I had two options back then. Go outside and play with friends or sit in and watch Goonies if it was raining. No matter how often it rained I never tired of watching this film and still watch it every few years

That's what I mean. The UK cut didn't have any swearing until the DVD release. Strangely,Channel 5 have twice shown the extended cut, which isn't available to buy anywhere.
