The official GoPro store are dropping a couple of prices today so looks like they are price matching them, also the HERO 5 Black for £299.99
A friend of mine was desperate for cash and trying to sell my his Go Pro Hero 5 Session for £200 just last weekend (I didn't buy it) - seems like a great price and find!

Are these a huge improvement over the original Sessions? I always got the impression that as with phones these days, the camera improvements are year are largely incremental and that you buy a Go Pro for the brand and software (which is quite simple)?

From what I gather, there is a decent upgrade over the original session. I think the most notable upgrades are:
Dual mics for reduced wind noise
(software) video stabilisation
Improved low light performance.

As well as having access to more photo/video modes up to 4K.

Personally I'm still not 100% sold on this over the Hero 5 Black. You lose out on performance/battery life/interchangeable batteries for having a slightly smaller (and cheaper) camera. If the form factor is a must, then I'd definitely go with this over the Hero (4) Session however.
Seems like the new normal price so I've voted cold, plus if I was buying I'd rather pay the extra 95p and buy from JL to get their 2 years guarantee.

Agreed under most circumstances, but the ability change batteries could be a deal breaker. Otherwise you're limited to about an hour's worth of recording at a time.

If I could get the £230 (refurbed) Hero 5 Black that ran a while ago then I'd definitely take that over this, although I appreciate it's not a particularly representative comparison as it was an especially good deal.
Littlewoods is 329 for hero5 black but get 20% back if you take credit but pay off asap
why this cameras are so expensive ?
Jessops also, looks like official price drop
Why are GoPros so much better than the typical Chinese imports at a 3rd of the price?
like: SJCAM SJ5000X Elite WiFi 4K 24fps Sony IMX078 Action Sports DV Camera
which get good YouTube reviews...
I have a couple of GoPro4 Sessions and despite not being a fan of GoPro, I do like them as they're very compact making them easy to mount anywhere. Depending on what's been done I don't find the battery too much of an issue as I mainly use it for mountain biking where it's better to take a few clips rather than just record constantly. If I'm doing a long climb or similar or on a break, I connect the camera to a battery pack to recharge it.

I was going to buy a GoPro5 but went for a Xiaomi 4K instead which isn't just much cheaper (got mine from Amazon on a lightning deal for £180) but has superb batterylife. It also works better in a mechanical gimbal than the GoPro5 as the GoPro5's mic system focuses on the gimbal noise and that's all that can be heard or at least that was the case a few months ago. The 4K+ model adds 4k60 and voice control but it's quite a bit more expensive than the original. The waterproof case which is required to use the gopro mount is quite bulky though and you have to buy it separately.

Price as you say, what's point of making a product just as good with say 20-30% lower when at the end of the day the consumer will in all likelyhood just go for the Gopro. You can cut the price so much then you have to cut the quality of components to lower the price even further.
Great find, heat added.

My wife got me this camera and I can say it's excellent for what it is. Yes it doesn't have interchangeable batteries, a screen, etc but the performance is good and there is less to damage. I read a few bad reviews such as it overheats, but I didn't experience this. And it has JL added care so it can do whatever it wants :-) I used it for our trip to Disneyland on a wrist mount and never once wanted or needed to view our experience through a screen. It made me focus more on what I was doing and having fun than what I was capturing through the lens. You can view what you record via an app on your phone if you want to have a look. The battery lasts for about an hour and a half of recording which is actually quite a lot for the purpose of an action cam. Next to mount it on the dog
The small size is good for mounting on the dog as I wouldn't want to go any bigger given it moves around quite a bit on the harness, I know it's squint here but didn't want to have it too tight:

I used to have session original, now got session 5 and 5 black.

I bought original session for £120 and session 5 for £195 when it was released, so probably would not pay same price almost year later and go for Yi 4K+ which would be much better buy now for same price on amazon £200.

Speaking of upgrade it is better, better overal quality including sharpeness and details of picture, also it has "okay" stab and more framerates, I use it as a back up camera due to main being 5black and record in 2.7k 60fps mainly. It is really good little camera and even tho black is not much bigger, in some situation smaller size definitely help (lol?). Also voice control is pretty handy, so overal it is much better than original session plus got more FOV using all redolutions and got 4k.

However before buying consider yi 4k+ as it competes with 5 black and 6 black £200.

Just to confirm - am I right in thinking that you get the 20% back in Very credit? And you can pay it off immediately?
I love the physical design of the camera.
This is very good for cycling, I have version 1, mount it on the bars. Simplicity is it's strength, together with tiny size.
Would love a Hero 6 though.

Can this be charged (from a portable USB pack) whilst in use?

TIA
I'm tempted as I like the form factor and ease of use...but I'd love the Sony fdr x3000 to be reduced in price....from what the reviews say it's far far superior in terms of image, sound and stabilisation to other action cams but they don't seem to be be dropping in price!
It's a good price. I like the GoPro brand, it's just a pain how quickly they devalue from a new one coming out every year

Not sure, I've charged it on the fly whilst at a café etc but not whilst charging. I think it probably can.

You would have wait until they credit the 20% before paying. Usually within a month or two they do this. 12 months interest free so no rush.
