I know a similar deal was posted about 2 weeks ago with 32GB SDXC. But you get free 64GB SDXC. It only shows up after you add it the cart. You get this deal for Fusion as well (£329 with 64GB SDXC)

*** No trade-in required ***

(Caution: they still run the trade-in deal on GoPro website. Click on the link and follow onto the main deal and you are safe)

It’s economical getting the £279 bundle. After that you could take the one month GoPro plus trial so you can get extra accessories at around 30 to 50% reduced cost. That way it works out cheaper than the £329 bundle and you’ll only get the accessories you need.

If you need extra batteries order it with camera. They can send upto 2 extra batteries with the camera. But will not post batteries separately if you’d want to purchase it later. Batteries cost £13.99 with the trial GoPro plus membership.

The delivery is supposed to take 3-4 days. Mine took longer. I called and complained. They gave me an option to choose a free accessory as a compensation. I got the ‘chesty’ for free.

Do much snowboarding in your bedroom?
Good deal. But leaks of software for the upcoming Hero 9 indicate dual screens finally. Hope they bring back the replaceable lens cover and improve stabilisation with recently acquired ReelSteady software.

Great deal if currently running GoPro Hero 6 and below. I own the 7 and will be waiting 6 months or so after the launch of the GPH9 Black to come down in price.

Been looking at buying a Hero 8 - this is tempting!

Said no one ever..
GoPro messed up the design of the 8 when they made the lens a built in one instead of the replaceable lens the 7 has. The change in shape of the unit also rendered all previous cases useless (dome, underwater cases, etc) therefore necessitating additional investment. It’s for that reason I didn’t upgrade despite the amazing stabilisation. I don’t want to have to sell half of my accessories at a loss just to upgrade. As for the 9 I’ll consider that depending on how good the features are.

Why? Whats so good about it?

I've considered one for a while but my cheap Chinese cameras are fine.

The only thing that interests me is that you can pair of to phone and stream live via your data
I still couldnt decide between this one or the DJI Cosmo Action. Does anyone own both and have any feedback?

The DJI Action is good but it suffers from firmware update issues and it runs hot. I mean scalding hot. It is even in the user guide "do not touch here during use due to burn risk".

The DJI MIMO app is excellent but I would get the GoPro and pay for GoPro+ if you have to choose. I have 2 DJI cameras and 4 GoPro's.

Hero 8 and Osmo Pocket are my go to. DJI action is the last camera out of my bag.

If you are asking what's so good about the firmware then for me being able to schedule timelapses and photos is useful for sunrises etc. I also will like being able to change settings via QR codes when skiing.

If you are asking about why the hero 8 as a whole is so good then I'm no expert. I got it because I suffer with very bed tremor and the stabilisation practically removes it. Maybe the Chinese cams are as good but I didn't find one when researching.

That sounds awesome thanks

If I mount my Chinese cameras to my bike it shakes way too much in the video. On my helmet it's its ok though.

Maybe it's worth finally investing in one now

I don't know if it's a bad time though because I don't know anything about when the 9 is coming out

I didnt know dji cosmo action had those bad heating issues. I need to steer away then.

Thanks mate. I have Gopro Hero 5 and although it still works fine, I think it's time to upgrade for a new one. I'd go for the Hero 8 then.

Can't go wrong with both Osmo Pocket and Hero 8.

2 of the best in my opinion

Speak for yourself. I bought one last year and all the footage I got because of it has been worth every penny.
Hot! good price. But these are kinda like iPhones, you're tempted buy but then you hear there's another better one coming out.
Is it worth taking the bundle at 329?

Is the bundle deal (£329 for HERO8 Black, Shorty grip, Head Strap, a 32GB SD card and spare battery) better if you are completely new and dont have the accessories?

I am thinking of buying it (mainly to capture video when cycling)
herrbz05/06/2020 10:59

Which bit is interesting?

I responded to that in a previous comment above. Basically scheduled time lapse.
My OH is after this sort of 'action camera' as an upgrade from a very old TomTom bandit. He wants to be able to have it on his chest so he can take photos or videos whilst running. He would like one with decent stabilisation abilities. Any recommendations by anyone here for another other than a GoPro? Although GoPro recommendations also taken. I don't know much about these sorts of cameras. Thanks

So the mounts/accessories for the GPH6 don’t work with GPH8? What about the GPH7, would the GPH6 mounts work with and is it worth upgrading? Thanks!
I think the dji osmo action is the better buy tbh. The mic on the go pro doesn't filter out wind noise at all so will ruin most video clips.

Pretty decent value if you’ll use those specific accessories. The shorty is a good starting point for a selfie type stick with tripod built in. You’ll want the extra battery and I believe this comes with the 64gb card too (once added to the basket)

All previous mounts that use the quick release buckle or the interlocking legs will work, there’s no change there. The 8 has the legs built in so you don’t need any frame or housing for general use. It’s waterproof to 10m so won’t need one for general water sports either. You’ll only really need a case for diving deeper than 10m or if you want added protection. Shape is different so previous cases won’t fit. I upgraded from the 4 and didn’t need much other than a case for scuba diving and batteries. The batteries from your 6 will work, just not optimum performance. Good as a back up while your 8 battery charges though.

False

There are settings to adjust the noise cancelling for the wind and you can buy wind deflectors. I’ve not had any footage “ruined” but the wind yet.
Thanks OP - purchased.
Been deliberating on the £100 trade in deal but seemed a bit of a faff. This is way more convenient and with an extra SD card perk.

DJI osmo sounds/looks good when compared but no GPS. Will be using for trackdays so might be a gimmick I want to play with...wind noise shouldn't be an issue as will use in car (deffo a thumbs up for DJI on that score).
