Same price on amazon
Thank you for sharing heat added!
If you have a NatWest cashback credit card, you'll get a further £20 cashback on this price too!
Probably worth putting in the title that it's the session 4
Just a quick mention that the new ones are expected imminently so as these will then be two gens behind these will be cheap and or the 4K current session will reduce to around this money which also has stabilisation so may be worth waiting a month or so if you can hold out as I predict these will be a bargain on Black Friday
What's the difference between this and a normal Gopro Hero4
Morning all,

I was thinking of a getting some kind of Go-Pro (or non-brand version) for my daughter (9 years old) as a birthday present. She's fairly adventurous,(Skating, surfing, cycling etc.) so I thought this might be something she could use to record her various activities with the appropriate mounts.

Firstly is this a sane idea? Has anyone got one for their kids that actually got goof footage / fun out of them?

Secondly, the Go-Pro brand is in reality out of my price range, but are there any others which match the quality / range of mounts?

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

I have a Xiaomi Yi which is a high standard substitute to a go pro. I don't know how strict she is on the quality of footage she has, but most cheap action cams can capture footage that you can watch back. Unless you are editing and uploading somewhere the quality won't be an issue. As for the mounts, most cheap action cams have lots available and are usually the same ones that fit go pro too.

I am sure I only paid about 120 for this about 8 months ago?
old one model and Hero 6 release date: 28 September
Cold. Not bulletproof
I have one of these along with a GP Hero 3 and a 5. It is a great camera and unless 4K is essential for you I wouldn’t be too upset about it being two generations behind.

It is so handy with one touch operation and the quality of the video is very good.

At that price I consider it good value for a good camera.
Just bought one of these for the same price from Amazon and loving it so far. Considered the cheap copies but this doesn't need an extra case to make it waterproof. The 5 session was tempting for image stabilization (not bothered about 4k) but didn't seem worth the extra.

I'm sure the 5 session will come down in price when the 6 is out but not this cheap. There's no sign of a 6 session yet, just the full fat one.
Looking for a 2nd hand hero 5, but the 6 is out next week so I’ll just wait and pick a 2nd hand one up when people replace the 5
I have the session 5 and it's a great little camera. No screen isn't much of an issue as even taking selfies you just vaguely point it in the correct direction and the large files of view means you'll get the shot. Got it last week to document my trip around the Northcoast 500 and it's definitely proved to be worth it.
Only fhd? Bought tomtom bandit 4k for £140 from amazon week ago...

Yep the SJCAMs are worth a look - they might be branded as Xiaomi now.

Hi, I bought my son the Hero 3+ for Christmas two years ago when he was 10, he loves it, and still does - he always takes it out with him. He is a mountain biker and we've also used it to go down waterslides on holiday (!!) and skiing, he uses it so often, I can highly recommend one. I don't know all the different specs etc, but I know that the ones with wireless connectivity are good because he can immediately watch his clip on his phone. He spends ages doing edits and making videos after he's been out riding. My eleven year old daughter wants one this Christmas, I am considering this deal but need to investigate the specs a bit more !! There are a hundred and one mounts you can get too.

I got a Garmin Virb for under £80 a while back, quality is great and it came with an adaptor for the GoPro mounts as well as the Garmin mounts. I use it with a GoPro bike mount.

These are half the price of this GoPro Aukey Action Camera and are …These are half the price of this GoPro Aukey Action Camera and are amazing! 4k lightweight and waterproof

Great value but a lot larger than the session and it’s not waterproof unless it’s in its case which makes it even more bulky.
However, as I said, it’s cracking value and I’ve got a few Aukey things and they’ve all been good quality.
Looks like its been £139 in Halfords for a while. Picked mine up last week. Great little camera!
Halfords GoPro

I use mine for recording ParkRun's and the best mount seems to be the head one. £14.99 in Argos and produces the most stable recording. You can put a hat over it to look a little less daft.
GoPro Head Strap

Don't forget Quidco too. £4ish from Halfords with mine

PS. It doesn't come with a memory card and apparently they are temperamental with which work properly.
The cheapest 64GB card I could find that was on the approved list was: Lexar 633X 64GB £24.99.

You need to link this with a smart phone to control it

You do not need anything to control it. You just press the button on top.
You CAN use the smartphone app as a viewfinder though to make sure you have it positioned correctly.
Thanks, but same price on amazon now. I want to use DJI drone to carry a Gopro camera to record my next trip with my friends. Nice product for me anyway.

only £119 in Halfords due to the spend and save deal

Spend and Save excludes cycling tech, the price isn't reduced for the GoPro.
The quality is awesome! Although most are quick to compair this camera with their super expensive cellphone, they are missing the point. This is an action camera, you take it to record sports, climbing, biking, hiking, boating, snorkeling or whatever it maybe.

no....

Go read the Question.
somehow managed to grab a sealed session 4 from facebook marketplace for £85 and hopefully grabbing a Session 5 tonight for £180 (again brand new)...if it weren't for these Id definitely have had a couple from Argos...especially as Ive got a load of points....think ill be selling on my GoPro 4 Black now as, for me at least, these small cubes are far more versatile
The built-in non-replaceable battery is annoying.
Please DO NOT buy this from Argos, or anything else using memory cards. My camera didn't work with any of the 4 microSD cards I tried it with, despite all being within specification. Those cards are all great and never had a problem in other cameras, laptops, USB sticks, etc. But when I tried to return the camera, they said I must have faulty cards and wouldn't accept the return. This is apparently, according to their store, the official Argos policy on devices that use memory cards. If I'd bought the cards from Argos, then that would've been different.
