It has the £50 screen built in so the black edition is in effect £100 more camera so it should be a big step up!

Do not agree. It depends what's your needs. For me Silver is perfect as I do not need 1080p 120fps for slow motion shots and also do not record 4k movies. Instead I have built in screen (it is a must for me) without expanding size of the camera and better battery life. I fully recommend if you aware of differences between Silver and Black and don't mind lack of some record modes.

Silver all the way too. 60fps slow mo is good, and 4K editing is a problem for most. File sizes and processing needed to edit 4K won't be most home pc's or mac's in my case.

P'ha ha ha ha ha. What nonsense

Waterproof to depths of 40 m, shockproof, dustproof and freezeproof, the HERO4 can withstand all of the elements and can go wherever you do, delivering high quality clips and photos in virtually all conditions.

I like the way they express it.!

I have the black but it's horses for courses. The silver is a great bit of kit at this price and so is the black. Just depends on what you want to use it for. Has any one ordered a lily camera?

Sorry silly question but do these record audio as well and if so what's the quality like?

Same as above, I bought the Silver due to the screen, I'm not a pro so don't need the benefit of the Black model.

Has previously been £216 on Amazon - FYI

Been waiting for it to drop to this kind of price for a while, thanks OP!

Yeah

It's actually been £211 on Amazon, that's when I got mine.
BTW the 1080p 120 output on the Black is pretty lame, resolution suffers at the high frame rate, unless you need 4K and have a pretty tidy computer (and memory cards) I'd stick with the Silver.

This is a killer piece of kit at a good price.

Great kit the screen helps so so much more!!!

I've got a Silver, fantastic footage and the stills grabbed from video are excellent too. We use it body boarding. The rear touchscreen is useful, you can't have one in the Black as it uses the space for an extra chip for 4k processing. I don't need 4k. This is a great price!

Yes, it can record audio. I think it is pretty good quality.
Though if you have it inside the waterproof case, the sound will be rather muffled. You can use the skeleton backdoor instead, which would be better sound, though its not entirely waterproof.
Or better still if you use the "Frame" mount, though that's not waterproof and doesn't protect the camera much.

Amazon have price matched this, but looking at camel it was £211.84 for a couple of months this year, so hopefully it will be back. I'm going to set up an alert to see if it drops again.

I recently bought the Hero+LCD

Great piece of kit with touchscreen and its built like a rock.

Would anyone recommend me return that beast over this?

Many thanks

I have this and it is by far the best bit of camera kit I have ever bought. I've used this for bungee jumping white water rafting kayaking and all sorts and the quality of video is stunning. The black is overkill as we don't need 4k shooting yet! Plus the silver has a touch screen.

Silver for me also.... ace bit of kit

Just had my silver delivered, i managed to get it from Bespoke offers for this price, but got 15.75% cash back, about £38.
Its better than i thought, but with so many different modes, I'm not sure which one to choose, especially with all the different frame rates. Anyone who has the silver recommend any for everyday things and roller coasters etc

This is a good price, but I haven't seen any O2 codes recently for Currys though.

I'd recommend getting a Sony HXR MC2500E. Any GoPro is weak against it. You would be surprised at the lack of strength in GoPro cameras compared to it.

Good luck attaching that to your bike helmet.

You're saying that you could spend more to get something better. This is a deals website, and the deal is for a GoPro Hero 4 Silver edition. I don't think you understand the point of this website.

Ah right, it's late and I've had a heavy night... The guy who said it was weak compared to the Black doesn't know what he's talking about anyway, unless he's shooting 4K the output is exactly the same, as I'm sure you already know.

Don't need one, bought one. Damn you hotukdeals

I will admit my judgement was lacking with my comment.

Out off the two the black suited my need as an action camera. High fps rate (720/240) for the super slow mo sports shots.

The silver has decent fps, (720/120) which will give you as good results. But my £60 yi camera gives the same recording benifits.

The black also has a bunch of time laps, long exposure and low light/night shooting options for photos. Not sure if the silver follows.

On paper the black came out stronger. But after reviewing (as I was a click away from buying one), I took into consideration off the silver. The lcd is nice, the functions are strong but as said above it doesn't feel a big enough upgrade over what I got already.

I'm just looking for that crystal clear iphone 6 slow mo recording without buying the iPhone 6.

That's where my judgement went wrong as I assumed a lot of people would've got the camera for roughly the same reason.

Can anybody recommend any spare batteries for this?

Yes

thought about it until I realised the footage shown was concept only

I need some help with picking a GoPro. I'm swaying between the silver and black edition.

I like the idea of the silver with having the screen on the back and keeping the device small and compact. But I have a 4k TV and want to capture some life moments in 4k. But I've been looking up videos of the 4k 15fps and it looks too choppy to enjoy the 4k.

That's why I like the black edition but I want to add the same thing screen. Does anyone have a picture of the difference of the GoPro with and without the screen attached from the side with and without cases too?

What's people thoughts on my matter?
