You're right mate but yeah just checked, doesn't come with the free SD. But then again, if you did prefer to buy off Amazon you can get this card for around £10
Doesnt stack with Unidays, in fact using Unidays bumps up the price to over £300 ... :s

Exactly. I had a 20% off code and when I enter that. It changes price to £284 and removes sd card.
They are too clever.

Hero 8 or Sony FDR-X3000r 4K Action Camera .... Seen some decent bloggers using the Sony with nice results. Anyone with both, care to share their honest opinions?
Torn between one of these or the dji osmo action already have a memory card and £30 price difference how do they compare?
I have the hero 8 and it's hard work. I have had many premium action cams over the years and the GP8 is hardest to get good results from. You have to invest time in configuring this manually. Its rubbish out of the box. I've lost so many videos due to over exposure, too much colour, too dark etc it's not a camera you can pick up and shoot. In contrast my yi4k+ can be put to auto and will give great results. I'm starting to like the gopro as I learn all the settings, but just be aware that you may have to endure some pain with this camera. For many weeks I was going to sell mine, in fact I might still!
Can you stack the trade in offer on top?
Great Deal OP, was going to purchase this via the tradein prior to lockdown and its the same price as that deal. Though just purchased the bundle £329.99 bargain! Will need the water housing for deep dives and bump protection. Looks like if you signup for free trial 30 days GoPro+ you can get accessories at 50%. Now to depart with my trusty Hero 3.

I have the the Sony and I am very satisfied , I don't know what more can i ask from an action camera
This or the 7 for £50 cheaper? I’m tempted by the 7 as the reviews seem slightly better and obviously the cost saving.
Thanks OP, have been waiting patiently for a better price. Nice one!
Having just used my Hero 8 in the garden this afternoon and then seeing my Yi 4K+ footage I sort of know why deep down I hate the Gopro 8.. It is truly awful to capture nicely balanced footage in bright sunlight. Unless you spend time setting up the camera for every combination of light, framerate, exposure then the results are just pants. I've just watched a ski video I took last season with the Yi and compared it to the Gopro 8, the Yi is so much better, crisper and more natural. I paid £279 for the GP8 so I won't lose much if I sell. I'll be really interested to hear other opinions about the camera. It does seem a bit marmite, you either love it or hate it... I'm sort of falling on the hate it side now, just too much hard work... perhaps that's why the price has dropped?

Can’t speak on the 8 mate as I haven’t upgraded from my GoPro 4 Silver for years but that camera was amazing for what I needed. I haven’t used it for quite some time now but the footage I have from it (Skiing, diving etc) is still amazing for me! I would have thought the GoPro has come leaps and bounds since then so it’s sad to see you aren’t getting the results you want from it. Have you watched any tutorials on YouTube etc?

Yes watched the vids. I do lots of photography eos 5ds etc so I know how these things work. But for me an action cam needs to work well on auto mode. With kids I dont have time to be adjusting settings all the time, I just want to point and shoot. In auto mode the gp8 is really bad and that's the killer for me. I had the early gp too I had a 1 and 4. Then moved to the tom tom (amazing cam but only 1080) and the yi 4k+. The yi is just great, no need to set up at all. The gp8 is also really bad in low light, worse than the yi which is 3yrs old. If yi bring out a 4k+ mk2 I'd defo go for that, I also think the osmo is a good camera. I think GoPro financially are in a bit of bother, I think theyve started to veer in the wrong direction and many consider the hero 8 a step backwards from the 7.

Good advise.

I bought this, and having taken it out for the first time today for a little test I was disappointed with the results. Images either very soft or very dark. Video looked worse than my iPhone by a good way. Stabilisation is crazy good to be fair and I liked the time-lapse feature which looks 10x better than the iPhone equivalent, but ultimately if it doesn't take good video and images I'm not sure it's worth the price. Sounds like manual adjustments are needed, but that's not what I want an action camera for!

Now to figure out how to return it... let's hope it's free as advertised as it wasn't shipped from the UK!

Unfornately hearing a lot of bad things about the 8. Such a shame as I loved my Hero4 Silver. Seems as though GoPro are going backwards..

Such as?
Libre1121/04/2020 16:24

I mean read the reviews.. A lot of people aren’t happy with it

Thanks for the response. I was considering a 7 or 8. Just wondering if your could tell me what things were disappointing on the 8, but Ill check out some reviews

Sorry mate I don’t have any specifics as I haven’t really compared the two personally as I’m still happy with my GoPro 4 but just looking from a distance, seeing reviews on a few sites like John Lewis, few responses on here.. Seems as though most aren’t too pleased with the 8. Best thing is to watch a few reviews on YouTube should help you make the decision
Bought at this price a couple of weeks ago on their trade up scheme. I sent in a broken 10 yo camera. It didn’t come with the 32gb card though so just been on the chat with them to complain. With a bit of persuasion they are sending me the handle grip with is cool as the 32gb card is too small anyway.
