This is a brilliant deal for us electric car owners, the polar plus membership is fantastic as it will often give free charging, or if like me your local council charge 25p per watt, the polar plus card reduces that to 10p per unit where you would normally have to pay, and they dont milk you on the rates either, I think the standing charge is slightly higher than normal, but the normal rate is excellent, and that is fixed for 2 years

ElectricityUnit rate: 12.72p per kWh

Standing charge: 28.77p per day

GasUnit rate: 2.7p per kWh

Standing charge: 28.77p per day

you will have to prove you own a electric car, also see here for polar plus benefits

Intriguing proposition.

Polar also offers the chance of a free Tesla Model S or X for a week, too!

I do like the ease of use of OVO as a supplier but how they calculate their monthly direct debit is bizarre.

3 years on and beginning of year they always estimate my direct debit to be double what it ended on last year. As the year goes by it keeps recalculating and dropping. Would prefer a consistent direct debit so I know my outgoings rather than one that randomly fluctuates so much.

you get 3% on your balance, so always overpay

Petty there is almost no polar points in pretty much the entirety of Cumbria! Otherwise I would change my OVO tariff.

PS I'm glad my local council doesn't charge 25p per watt, that would cost me £7,500 to charge the leaf

I think you mean Kwh

Can you deliberately overpay by a few £grand, assuming your credit balance is protected and safe via FSA/OFGEN etc?

No 12months projected usage maximum

As an Audiologist 25p per 'what' could be a good earner

I'm currently over £600 in credit in my OVO account and I'm 5 months into my new year. Last year ended at £64 a month, this year started at £210 a month. This month it has been recalculated down to £140 a month. It'll probably drop to £60ish again end of year.

I'd rather they get it right and have a regular outgoing than jump up about a 3% interest rate.
