ok so a bit surprised this hasnt been put up.daily deal currently about 6 hours to go currently on offer and 32 pounds according to my supermarket if you have 15% s&s its possible to get the price down to 19.13 its a lot of cat food agreed but for what your paying for this you probably cant buy cheapy stuff for so treat your cats.by the way this is quite a heavy box and would probably cost over 5 pounds to deliver this comes free so even more reason to purchase.

hahahahaha hey theres nothing wrong with eating pet food just ask mad max X)
I've voted hot for the price but calling this 'premium' is plain wrong.

Meat and animal derivatives, Vegetable protein extracts, Fish and fish derivatives (4% salmon/tuna/cod/plaice*) , Molluscs and crustaceans (whole shrimp 4%), Minerals, Various sugars

That is not the ingredients list of a 'premium' cat food.

I also know this will bring out many 'my cat thrives on this' type posts. Which is absolutely fine but please do not be mistaken and think for a second this is premium. You're feeding your cat the pet equivalent of maccies.

If you want actual decent cat food more than happy to give you some pointers on what to look for. I spent 7 years studying canine and feline nutrition after my cat and dog developed allergies.

The reason I get so wound up with pet food is because people are being ripped off big time and being led to believe they're feeding their pets the best. It's appauling. So apologies if I seemed a little rude in my first post. But i despise seeing people ripped off and I despise the fact massive companies take advantage of peoples wish to do best for their pets.

totally agree. companies have to have a minimum of 4% to call it tuna or beef etc, but that doesn't mean it is good quality tuna, beef etc. cat food is a huge con, especially these new fangled soups. because people love there cats, who are renowned for fussiness, we get ripped off even more than dog owners. per gram, kilo ml, l or lb (take your pick), it is more expensive to feed a cat than a human. I would rather buy some fresh meat/fish/poultry for my cats. you know what's in it and you know it's quality. what's more, it cheaper. I have 4 fussy babies and a wildcat I feed (when the magpies don't steal it) and they all have very different tastes, but the only cat food they all eat is gourmet cold pate. I try to stick usually, to things without cereals though.

It's absolutely outrageous isn't it.

My cat is super fussy too. But in all honesty it costs me pennies a month to feed him. He has dry food (I wish he didn't but he wont eat wet food with any regularity, wont eat raw, wont even eat chicken) from zooplus, I payu £30 for 10kg grain free 60% meat dry. This lasts him 8 or so months. Then I get either feline fayre, hi life or encore (rebadged applaws) from the local b&m and home bargains. The feline fayre tuna pouches are £2 for 12 and they're 75% meat. The tuna and chicken are £1.50 for 8 and again 75% meat.

The pet food industry has drummed it into pet owners that to feed your pet well you have to feed them expensive foods.....that are usually filled with anything but 'meat'. How often do you see 4% meat and animal derivatives on cat food? Just whatever beaks and feathers were cheapest at production time, not even a specific 'meat'.

It really aggrivates me to see well meaning pet owners fooled into feeding their cats and dogs appaulingly bad food filled with lord knows what. And very little in the way of 'nutrition'.

As far as I'm aware cats are mortal too!
wotan- What brand on Zooplus? I'll give it a try x
I've bought this for when my cat gets bored of her food, but I shop around and like to buy her applaws food which is 100% natural (apparantly).

I tend to get it from approved food
http://store.approvedfood.co.uk/pet_food/applaws_chicken_topped_with_tomato_in_jelly_12_x_70g-245270-p?pid=245270

Or because the dog food tins are the same stuff, just in larger tins, sometimes I buy that and my cat LOVES it

http://store.approvedfood.co.uk/pet_food/applaws_natural_dog_food_ocean_fish_with_kelp_156g_x_16-255242-p?pid=255242

I know how important it is that cats have tourine in their diet so there's always dry cat food available for her which is a 'complete cat food' (Arden grange or similar) and of course fresh water is always out.

No problem.

The other one I get is this one

http://store.approvedfood.co.uk/pet_food/applaws_natural_dog_food_mackerel_with_seaweed_and_sweetcorn_156g_x_16-255248-p?pid=255248

My cat goes absolutely crazy for it!!

My gorgeous old dog also had poorly tummy for a few days so I gave her some tins of this and she loved it so much that she now knows how good it is and stares at me when I give it to the cat X)

EDIT: As the Applaws food is 100% natural, I genuinely find that the only difference between the cat and dog foods is the size of the tins and a slight change in recipes.

So long as you also provide a good quality 'complete' dry food, with tourine, you couldn't really give your cat anything better.

Having said that, my cat also loves Sheba, and I've bought this, and so long as your cat is happy, healthy and a good weight, just keep doing what you're doing!!

thanks again sweet
none of my cats will touch Applaws, I also tried a couple of flavours from Approved food. it is such a shame we can't get singles to test as they are very expensive if not liked. still my wild cat/magpies eat whatever my cats dont

i used to use feline fayre when Tesco sold it and never seen it since, shame as 1 of my cats would go nuts for it, especially the shredded chicken in black sachet. never used b&m but recently discovered we have one about 2 miles away, so thanks for the info. will definitely have a look. hi life is popular, but I have never tried Encore. Tesco value white fish fillets (value as sizes, a but only added water) steamed in the microwave is a favourite with my babies and I add a little water which goes fishy for extra fluids that they love, do same with chicken and turkey.
