Cold for me. Personally I'd rather go for the 3 month free tastecard offer that has £3 TCB
I went through all free cashback but watch out for lotto social, apparently I joined a lottery syndicate.. cost me £1. But overall I gained a lot, just ensure that you set calendar reminders when using credit cards. Won £600 on Bingo btw, cashback is also great on Bingo sites were you get more cashback than the money you put in.
Nice find. Similar to the taste card promotion via TCB. However, they make it quite hard to cancel the membership and you are expected to call the cancellations team on the phone.
Good find :)
I downloaded the app so I don't forget it's there. It's well worth it, even if it's just used the once.
Always forget about meerkat meals, haven’t used it once!
If you go to compare the market and buy a UK one night's travel insurance, it's just over £1. You get the Meerkat meals and cinema for a year for free.
McDonald's is cheap as chips anyway, lol. Pity about kfc
Voted cold mcdonalds kfc and dominos not inc
Just FYI. Obviously SuperCard deleted this conversation from FB https://goo.gl/WFetqU
All sorted... thank you
So you got the code from SC but the link is not there? Why do not you call SC support? I would help but cancelled my card already.
well - it isn't there ..... thats what I meant... (embarrassed)
I just tried, but the link to register for free does not work when you get the code :(
Sadly lots of the places don't accept Fridays Saturdays and even some Sundays or parties larger then 4. May or may not be a deal breaker but worth pointing out
https://www.gourmetsociety.co.uk/specialoffer.php?offercode=GSSUMMER17&utm_source=homepage&utm_medium=site&utm_campaign=GSSUMMER17 Was looking for the free £5 Prezzo gift card offer but that appears to have expired.
A better deal often posted is a £1 deal + a cinema ticket/s or £5 gift card, so cold. They're always offering £1 trials
Don't see this offer on the website? Shows £69.99 for one person, not sure if that's per month, per year.... Can you cancel at the end of the 3 months, T&C's don't cover this?
Such a cool logo
where is the link
So... Got a direct link to this offer?
Free £5 Prezzo gift card with your £1 membership. Enjoy 2 for 1 meals, 50% off food, or 25% off the total bill - including drinks! From local independents to family-favourite chains such as Bella Italia, Strada, Vintage Inns, Loch Fyne and La Tasca, there’s plenty for everyone to sample! Thought we were all about dining? Think again! Your £1 Gourmet Society membership also give you exclusive access to discounts on days out, afternoon teas and cinema tickets at venues across the UK.
Tastecard do the same; luckily for me they took it from PayPal so I disputed it. Bunch of scammers. Apparently you're meant to receive at least 3 notifications to cancel so they breach their own T&Cs Stay well clear
Cold from me being what rajsingh516 said and i believe him/her.
Please be very careful they are full of **** and very misleading because when they send you an email they underline and highlight the date your membership expires But after a few paragraphs and in very small print is The date is is two weeks before your Expiry of your so called 3 months trail!! you have to ring up and request a cancellation code and then they go and cancel your contract. There is no reminder email regarding your renewal is up instead take £39.99 from your account and then send you a email to let you know you've automatically been entered into a 12months contract. I was so angry as you don't expect your contract to be renewed two weeks before your actual trail period and also there was no reminder! when confronted they told me I was sent a reminder which I clearly wasn't otherwise I would of cancelled! So don't be stung!
Hmm not sure I could be bothered. heat added tho
Even better, get £5 quidco when you sign up for the £1 trial.
Can a MOD move this to freebies - it's obviously in the wrong section
Is it correct that all of the restaurants don't offer the 50% off? Some offer ONLY 25% off food and drink, some give you 2 for 1's and perhaps others offer the 50% ?
Just cancelled my "soon-to-expire" membership as my wife has taken out the £1 deal for the next three months, I was a little apprehensive after what some have said, but it went through fine and I have my cancellation code. So long as you cancel in accordance with their T's&C's i.e. not too late, you should be fine. Took a screenshot of it just in case though :)
Just make sure you cancel the direct debit with your bank or the paypal authorisation & it should be OK
I had exactly the same problem and outcome. Personally, I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole again.
Snob manager at our local flaming grill got annoyed as we used the card quite a lot, she then told us that we could only have it on main meals and nothing else even though it states all food on the app.
In my experience The Gourmet Society were an absolute nightmare to deal with. They're the only company I've ever had any problems cancelling when taking a trial. I'm sure others have had better experiences though.
A three month trial of Gourmet Society membership for £1. £5 quidco cash back. Thought it was a no brainer but the hotukdeals community disagree, clearly.
Explain this pls
Yeah, not good :( Probably more cheaper to go to a Fayre & Square and get 25% of their menu.
Has now changed to 25%
Hi, Update, Flaming Grill have put out T&Cs that the 50% cannot be used between the 18th of December and 3rd of January 2016. I went recently and they said that the option is completely locked currently. Therefore go after these dates and they should be able to knock 50% off between Monday and Thursday. If it does not work request to see the duty manager as they should be aware of this offer.
lol no chance - i can honestly say the chips on the trashcan challenge was the killer
Hi furthermore.. I went myself tonight to the Flaming Grill and they would not give me it either. Some T&CS which are not on the above state the 50% cannot be applied on bank holidays and other special occasion days and between the 18th of December and 3rd of January. I tried to get it as it did not say on the site on the above but they said that the option on their till is completely blocked off. Best bet is to wait until new year and try after the 3rd of Jan. All the best.
Through the mail and before it comes you can use the digital card on the Gourmet Society app.
how do you receive the card, via email or through the post? Can you just use the phone app and show the 'card' on the phone?
Ok so I signed up using #11 comment, and I now have the activated app on my phone. There's no way they can take the card details off my phone is there?
Nectar customers can claim 1000 additional points if you sign up to the 90 day trial for £1 until Wednesday 18th Nov - "1,000 bonus points and discounts at over 6,000 restaurants when you trial a 90 day Gourmet Society membership for just £1"
I called today for cancellation. They switched off auto-renewal option, and gave a reference number as 2016011146.... No email confirmation? Anyone got email confirmation?.. also is the cancellation reference same as "Cancellation Date Followed by Membership Number"?
just rung them and it's as easy as pie - selected option 5 and asked to cancel the membership. gave my name and membership number and the man i was talking to told me he'd switched off the auto-renewal for the account and that it would still run through to the 11th of Feb, but it would then automatically end then so all is good :) didn't even ask me why i wanted to cancel as well.
mine in as well .. woo!
How do I cancel my membership? You can cancel at any point during your membership. In order to cancel your Gourmet Society membership, you must contact our friendly Cancellations Team on 0800 043 1978 who will advise you on the cancellation process. We are available Monday – Friday 9am to 5pm. Please note, we are unable to retrospectively cancel any membership
anyone knows how to cancel after the points?
Was just looking at your link, I can't see where you put the code though? Please help / advise if expired. Thanks
Or Hi-Life card for 12 months for £1.00 and they don't auto renew at the end of it. https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/hi-life-diners-club-2-for-1-dining-uk-ireland-12-months-membership-for-1-00-2282780
cant check without membership but i assume its the same as taste card most offers wont be available fridays / weekends?
You are not tied in to anything. You have the option of a 3 month card being sent out or to have access to it instantly on the app. I'd suggest getting the card as you can give it to friends or family and I can use it on my app as well so in effect its two cards
Be aware of the small print thus;- Terms and Conditions Yes please! I'd like to become a member of the Gourmet Society and agree to inform the Gourmet Society if any of my contact details change. I agree to the full Terms and Conditions and that my Gourmet Society membership is an ongoing service until ceased in accordance with them. I am aware that I can cancel at any time in accordance with the Terms and Conditions.
Even if you guys just donate a pound cancer research get £2!.
If you enter your card details they automatically sign you up for a year and take £45 from your bank and they won't refund it as they say they sent an email which I didn't receive good deal tho if no card details required
I guess?, cool ..... lol. :-)
I didn't enter mine in. I think it's worth it for the month - some good discounts /places to eat!
I hope not? .. kinda reminds me of the 1 Month FREE Taste Card Deals that are sometimes knockung about .. they rarely need Card Details either ... lol. :-)
no card details required
I've been using 33mail for a while and have set up hundreds of other disposable addresses with them and never got anything like that before or since
Not defending the Gourmet society but it could well be the disposible e-mail company that phish you try using another one contact a different company and see if the same thing happens.
Be careful with giving them your email address. I registered with them a few months ago for a free trial and used a disposable email address from 33mail (email@example.com) and about a month later I received an email to that address supposedly from Paypal saying that my account had been restricted and asking me to login and update my details - obviously a dodgy email attempting to get my Paypal account details but Gourmet Society was the only website I used that email address with! I wrote them a complaint and included a copy of the email but I never heard anything back from them.
Another disabled person offer. If u aren't disabled don't use it!
cheers, link works and code you supplied works too :)
Waste of money. Almost every restaurant cant use friday or saturday ie the days most people want to eat out. I took the trial and paid for postage even though said clearly only billing me for postage. I had no idea they stored these details and 'swiped' my card after trial ended two months i think it was or maybe three. Complained to amex who were absolutely useless and would not act.
They'll give you a card that expires 1 year and 3 months inclusive of the 3 months free trial, towards the end of the 3 months you have to send it back to them otherwise you get charged as the cards valid for longer than the 3 months free period, you must send the card back at your own cost and tbh you ought to send it back recorded at the very least to cover yourself if it gets lost in transit, otherwise you end up with a nasty bill for £69.99
On the off chance you have a 16-25 railcard or know someone with one they can get a two month trial free as well http://www.16-25railcard.co.uk/members/rewards/2for11/
English Heritage members can get a 2-month free trial by going to https://www.gourmetsociety.co.uk/join.php or http://www.gourmetsociety.co.uk/free and if they want it extended to a 4-month trial, then they can pay a further £1.
Sorry OP, I did add the heat though
OP should have stated alllll of this in their Product Description too ..... lol.
Gourmet society are best avoided. Had a 'free' card for a couple of months - tried to cancel before the payments kicked in ... They were v squirmy and made cancelling a nightmare. Started down trading standards route and only then got it cancelled....
Gourmet Society is best avoided. They sign you up and make it extremely difficult to cancel. Stockport Trade standard has a standard pre-printed complaint form especially for them.
best i can see is £44.95 but no mention of the wine
Just won 1 of these at work and not really many places where i live either.
Remember to cancel your membership 15 days before expiry as they sting you for £39 for another 12months! I've just been had! The cinema tickets are useless too. Think I save around £3 on 2 tickets and they send them through the post! Some of the deals can be got through O2 offers etc.. But some are half descent. Any chain pub or restaurant are typically 25% off but sometimes don't include Fridays or weekends.
