I'm all for smart gadgets (house full of them) but this just seems plain silly to me. Why would you want your phone to tell you when food is ready? Am I missing something. I have a good old fashioned alarm on mine and when it reaches temp it tells me clearly. I don't need an app (buggy by the reviews) to alert me. At least I can trust the alarm feature.
These are mainly used (from my own experience) in modern cooking for meat and telling "doneness". If you're doing, say, a prime rib, you want to achieve an internal temperature of about 120-125f to get it consistently medium-rare.

They're especially helpful in BBQ cooking where you're trying to achieve a fabled "crust" to the exterior, thus achieving severe outside temps on the meat which can often bely the internal doneness.

I'd be interested to know how bad these are because my Bluetooth probes were very expensive compared to this. If they were inaccurate enough that they ruined even one dinner then it would make them a no-buy.

I’ve no idea if this particular deal is any good or not. But anything that gets more people using food thermometers is a good thing in my opinion. The amount of people who think under or overdone meat is done is just unacceptable. Use a meat probe. (edited)

The only reason I would buy a Govee food thermometer is to RGB up my Christmas turkey this year 😁, I wonder if I can sync it up to my kitchen lights 😝

Curious about their 70M range claim, has anyone actually tried this?

Bought one of these for use on the BBQ over the summer and it was next to useless, don't waste your money

I’ve been using on of these with my oven at home. Works perfectly fine

Suppose it wouldn't work with an air fryer?

The ones with the screen are better for me. I use the Bluetooth function for slow roasts such as a medium rare silverside or spatchcock chicken on the bbq outside.

If I'm testing food I've cooked at a regular temperature I just use the screen on my version.

The Bluetooth function definitely has its place for those that want it.

I use this at the other end of the spectrum for dough temps and fridge proofing temps. It’s excellent. You can set of course standard chicken etc but I use it in DIY mode from 4c to 26c. The graph shows the rise and fall in temps to show how long chilling takes.
