Great more money for people who couldn’t be bothered with school

I really hope that your never made redundant or lose everything. With attitude like that I guess you did very well for yourself. Don't preach, many people who claim don't want too but have to.

Such ignorance is sadly commonplace these days

Ironic, considering how ignorant your comment is...
Voted hot. I am not eligible but hopefully this will help others keep their home warm for a little longer this winter

Where is deal?
Went to British gas and the website said applications open in autumn?
The Gov.UK site says it will start Oct 15, so the August one must only be the Utilita.. got mine from British Gas last year..

Wow.. criterea is tough for this one!!
Usually there is a much longer time period to apply. Most providers open September/October. For edf customers like me, it opens September: edfenergy.com/for…unt
What’s the second criteria, I couldn’t read it

We got this years ago. Times were hard. But now I don't begrudge anybody who gets this.
But in reality, the ones who need it most won't even know about it most likely
What is the customer reference if ur using this site?
Before you commit to an energy company which participates in this scheme, make sure you check out non-participating suppliers. I found last year that when I signed with a smaller supplier (only big suppliers are required to participate in the warmhome scheme), I saved more money. The annual cost minus £140 was still more expensive than I paid to the smaller supplier. When you use compare engines, try all companies not just one, because not every compare engine is working with all energy suppliers.

Please do a price comparison on the likes of moneysavingexpert and consider getting away from BG they are one of the most expensive companies out there. really no reason to pay for the loyalty just because you think you get the WH.plenty of other suppliers offer it so save more money or as one of the posts above suggests move to one which doesn’t offer it and you can still save.
I was asked to complete the gov.uk form for someone but they as for a 10 digit Customer Ref No. but their actual ref nois only 7 digits!
Asking for a reference number.....I don't have one?

Your Customer Reference number is a unique 10 digit number (not your top-up card numbers!) that refers to your account, you can find it in the top right of any letters or emails you've received.

There is no 10 digit account number anywhere. Just the 7 digit number on all correspondence/emails/online account etc

This is true I went from £66 per month to £48
I think it seems like a good idea, but times are tough for most and somebody’s picking up the bill. Why not give this money to the people who aren’t as lucky to have a home to heat through no fault of their own.
Anybody know when EON Start
My family have missed this scheme for the last 3 yrs as we didnt know when to apply and had no correspondence with the energy provider. Its made a big impact on our bills and im in arrears that I have never had before. Im hoping not to miss it this year with e.on.
I changed from the standard variable tariff from BG to NP Everyday Heroes Tariff. Special tariff for emergency workers no longer available now :’((((

My god the savings I made especially during the cold snap quarterly months was at least £130 minimum. 8 months since i left BGI have only paid £670 for a 3 bed household with 2 elderly pensioners.

I urge anybody on any standard variable tariff regardless of usage to move from the so called Big 6 rip off companies and look for alternative tariffs even if they tie you down for 2 years.

The savings are there here to be made.
Here's the list of suppliers who offer the discount as published by uswitch for 2017-18 Atlantic
Bristol Energy
British Gas
Bulb
Economy Energy
EDF Energy
E.ON
First Utility
Fischer Energy
Green Star Energy
npower
OVO Energy
Our Power

you may be aware of this already but adding it in case you aren't, migth be worth trying to get away from that type of meter, know this is easier said than done but reality is you will be paying much more than the WH discount which sort of defeats the object of the WH discount in the first place.

I use moneysavingexperts energy club every year to compare prices and switch, and noticed there was a difference of £12 for the year with a cheaper smaller company vs a bigger one who had the warm home discount scheme available so went for them. It’s definitely worth comparing like you said!

Also it’s sad to see people assume this is just for people without jobs and on benefits, my family is entitled to it because my son is disabled, my partner works and we still contribute to taxes etc...
What about EON?
I would just like to say I worked all my life till my husband got sick with cancer he died in February this year and I'm unfortunately unwell now with fibromyalgia and struggle to walk. I have to use a stick and am in constant pain. I am only 47 and am now a widow with a wonderful son who's had a tough year doing gcse's and is going to go to college. We've struggled at times after my husband died had to rely on my dad to help with money for foot as no benefits were coming in. Its been awful. I don't know if I'll get this benefit but anyone who thinks we are all at home living the life of Riley believe me we are not. I'd rather be healthy and have my husband back but neither of those will ever happen. Please be a bit more sensitive and realise it's not use people who don't want to work. There are a whole range of reasons for people being off work.
