Interesting, GP are about the best rechargeable brand available.
Are you sure they were not knockoffs or the wrong charger?

I used to race RC cars (years ago) and GP were the best NIMH batteries you could get.
I have a set of their first ReCyko batteries and they are still going strong.
I would guess it was the charger at fault, it is always worth investing in a decent peak charger that charges each battery individually then cuts off charge individually when charged.
Just received mine, they come in a 100% cardboard box (no blister packaging or plastic). Which is a nice touch for a greener product.

What charger do you, or anyone else, recommend?

I've never had any sort of NiMH battery from any manufacturer leak, and I've used dozens over many years.

This is all I buy, kids have loads of battery toys. Been using them for a number of years now. I haven't had to bin any and they all work well.
