No it isn't. If its not out yet then that's a future version not the latest version.

I thought there was a new version due out anytime now based on the Intel Core M3-7Y30
Does this thing stream games or play off device hardware. Didn't know a thing like this exist but the ideas around it make you wonder what it's capable of achieving 🤔
great review here:

That's due to be released in March

It looks like it's just a tiny laptop with a built in gamepad controller, so it'll do anything a normal laptop will (i.e. both of those).

It could definitely do with Intel's GT2 graphics from a Y series processor and a slightly higher resolution screen, not being at least 768 pixels high is going to cause a few games not to run. If there's an upgrade in March I'd be tempted to wait for that.

Only if you get pulled
This is horribly underpowered, better off buying a switch if in desperate need of a handheld console

Both are completely different. This can do much more than play games, it can run any windows program. Its mainly aimed at people wanting to emulate older systems, something not available on the switch.

good item but a little out of my budget got a linx vision 8 for £70 referb and i like that this would be good for emulating ds games and few other handheld games but a bit too much just for that.

Paying 230 (+ possible import tax) for a device only useful for emulators isn't the best idea though, could always get yourself an actual usable laptop for sub 300 and a cheap gamepad if that's the only thing you needed it for

You'd be surprised the lengths and costs people go to for portable emulation machines. This at this price set up with a front end like launchbox or Hyperspin and running pretty much any console or arcade game you want up to the N64 era, works out as a fairly good option.

Indigogo starts January and Items start to ship in April. That's a third of the year away. That is not "imminent" and a product which has not even begun manufacturing cannot be called the current/latest model!

According to you the season is spring and Easter is imminent! Abandon Christmas it's old and outdated!
I got one of the launch models of these. I don't know how much they've changed in the newer revisions, but my launch one isn't great. The d-pad and buttons are sticky and just all-round awful, the device runs either really hot or really loud depending on the fan settings you use, and it had driver issues out of the box. I thought I'd use it to play all those indie games filling up my steam library that I never find time to play at my desktop, but in practice I never use it. I keep meaning to sell it.

I certainly wouldn't buy it with emulation in mind. For everything up to PS1 emulation you're better off with a hacked PSP/Vita - better controls and mostly full-speed emulation. Maybe the GPD Win is the best option for portable N64/DC/Sat emulation at present - I'm not sure what the alternative is other than one of those equally-awful Chinese Android portables.

Possibly next year. There have been some leaks on YouTube. Seems pretty awesome

It's portable. It act fully as laptop as well. They have another version which looks like laptop and play overwatch and others simple games

Hoping that the new version is better in terms of processor. Anyway all these competition will only benefit us as the consumer. So really hoping that they can put more competition against the still awaiting smach z

Although it is technically a Windows machine, using this for any sort of media consumption or web browsing or typing would be unbelievably tedious on a small low res screen and terrible keyboard. To be honest if I was in the market for this sort of device, I'd buy an android tablet and a controller which has most emulators on but would actually be usable for other things.

The 2nd gen does look more promising but looks like it'll still be another 3-4 months before that's released

Yup. I do agree with you. I am not a big fan of the first version. However when it comes to tablet I love Windows tablet a lot. I think it is a lot more productive. 5.5 inch is poor indeed. I would prefer it to be 8 inch. The cheap windows tablet can play league of legends. As well as do other stuff as well. I really love it during my travel.

Possibly familiarity as a factor.

which tablet do you have?
hotukdeals.com/dea…997

Just a link to the device I use I know it's not the same but if someone wants a Windows machine that does emulation up to n64 you can give this a shot. Also you can install steam and play retro and indie games from steam. You can also stream from xbox and steam if you wish maybe an alternative for those who want something cheaper.
macethedon50 m ago

The old HP. But mine was 1p inch. As well as acer 8 inch windows.
Can't wait for GPD Win indigogo starting January 15th.

The full specifications are known. Videos are out showing gameplay but no fraps showing stable play. Someone in six days will be receiving one who'll show a lot of gameplay.

I've had two versions of the GPD Win they're going to make the next one expensive I'd expect to see £450 price if it's £350 I'll be amazed.

Can we also debate if something can be a “new improved” model as well please. To me it is either “new” or it’s “improved” it can’t be both.
Edited by: "ace_rees" 19th Dec 2017
It can be both, a new version improved over the old one. Just as some stuff is new and not as good but its cheaper for us to make now. They tend not to put that in the advertising though.
