It says on the description that it's suitable for children aged between 4 and 12 years old. I have an 18 month old, would this be ok?

No it's for ages 4-12. 18mths need to be in a 5/3 point harness seat.

My daughter is quiet tall that's the only reason she was ok in the chair, obviously the child's safety comes first.

no!!! it's a booster seat which uses car's 3 point seatbelt. it is for use from 15kg but even if you've got a 15kg 18mo (which would be impressive!!) they wouldn't sit safely and sensibly enough to use a booster seat.

Height has nothing to do with it, it's weight. 15kg. My 4 yr old weighs 14.6kg

Must be a different seat as no one would put an 18 month old in this kind of seat. What confuses me is car seats have a best before, which is 5 years (something to do with the plastic) so why have a seat for 8 years!

different manufacturers have different 'recommendations' as to the expiry of their seats. in America they actually have expiry dates stamped on their car seats, but in Europe it's not as clear. britax, for example, say their seats do not have an expiry but... it's about how they're stored. e.g. carseat kept in car for ten years will have been exposed to extremes of temperature and plastic will have weakened.

Please use this site for advice. Never compromise on safety!! 'My small 6 year old has only just gone onto one of these seats as she is now 15kg! 18 months is extremely young to be on a high back booster

Go on goodeggsafety website for advice and free fitting of car seats 18 months is too young for this seat. Don't risk it get it checked ASAP u can't replace a child!
