The rig is probably ex-corporate & about 3 years old (along with the processor) - though the processor was initially launched in 2012. Back in 2016 the processor was selling for nearly $300 (new).

With a 12 month warranty? Link please
Good cheap upgrade for someone on an even more ancient CPU like Q6600. It would double the power and less likely to bottleneck powerful GPUs.

Great for the price!
Interesting I have an i7 2600 machine with a failed motherboard. Could I transfer everything useful into this?
Still a good CPU for gaming. Knocked up many mid-level rigs with it.
Itzoo - the worst company I have had to deal with in the last 12 months or so.
Cheaper on ebay with windows 10 if you don't mind lower grade £95

HP 8200, Intel i5-2400, 3.1Ghz, 4GB Memory, 500GB HDD, Windows 10, Refurbished C

Would you need to replace the power supply or add a graphics card?

i5-2400 bottlenecking GTX 1050ti in GTA5. Still, decent enough performance.

My kids got a Q6600 system.
Threw in a cheap SSD from last year, 8gb DDR2 and think its a gtx450.
For the age, it does moret han i thought it would with her games
We buy these at work and pretty sure it was released in 2012 so you're looking at a 5 year + old model.

The subsequent models, released annually have been:

8300, EliteDesk 800, 800 G1, 800 G2, 800 G3 is last year's model

A 1050ti or 750ti would go in this sound without having to upgrade the PSU.

Look to see if the motherboard supports 5xxx series Xeon chips, they are £15-£30 on AliExpress and will blow away that Q6600. My daughters system went from a Q4 series, to a Q7 series to a Xeon 54xx and it is now nearly as fast as my hexacore AMD rig.

My mums PC has the same mobo and original Q4xxx chip, it takes 70-90 seconds to boot, the daughters boots in about 15 seconds using a £20 generic 60GB SSD.
Prob is motherboard will be corporate going backwards even if CPU was good.
No point putting a good CPU on a slow motherboard
I have the i7-2600 version of this for Lightroom and transcoding purposes. Picked it up a year ago for £130 and it's been excellent.

Also have a fleet of these in ultra slim desktop cases at work and they've been ultra reliable over the past 5 years (800 odd devices).
My son has one of these. The PSU is a low powered custom HP one with an unusual motherboard connector - you will not be able to swap it out for a more powerful one - which means that the best graphics card you can put in it is the 1050ti (as it requires no extra power connector and draws little enough power not to cause problems).

That said, with the 1050ti, it is a perfectly competent gaming machine at 1080p and it is still head and shoulders above an Xbox one or PS4. He has no issues with PUBG, Rainbow Six, Doom or any other game.

The one in hers is the 120Gb SSD i got off mymemory for £25 last last christmas lol.
Havent timed boot time on hers or mine as both SSD's and just go to windows login in seconds.

By the time she needs an upgrade she can have mine and il do a new build lol.

Done an i5 4690, msi z87m gaming mobo, 16gb 1600mhz, gtx770, last year £200 for that and got that kingston 240gb ssd from here £60. Corsair 650W PSU for £40, scavenged an old case i had with cd drives etc.
Things a beast and havent touched the overclocking settings on the mobo yet.

She is only 7, so shes happy as long as it plays sonic racing transformed from my steam account lol
Might try out rocket league on it while shes at school tomorrow
Can anyone recommend some ram to stick in this? Looking for a 4 / 8GB stick

If you bought it, i'd wait to see what it comes with.
Id guess it will likely come with only 2 memory slots.
Depends if this uses the two slots with 2x2gb or just 1x4gb.
£23 for bog standard 1x4Gb stick off that dr.memory on ebay, but need to see how many slots you have.

I had forgotten how much SSD prices had fallen, £20 for 60GB was really cheap when I bought it a few years ago.
