not sure yet, i'll report back tomorrow as it's hopping around in the freezer atm lol -- but apparently it's very lean meat and good on the BBQ!

kangaroo is lovely, cooks like really lean beef and tastes fantastic.

My hubby loves kangaroo - can't speak for myself as I'm a vegetarian!

Dunno - but almost certanly "a bit like chicken" - everything does

can tell you it tasted like a light steak, same kinda texture of venison but not so heavy a taste, and it was very nice on the barbie! (_;)

What's the weight of the kangaroo steaks? How much hopper are we getting for our £2 :P

Picked up some chicken at this price (advertised 1/2 price) in Monmouth Lidl yesterday.

not even the beef? thats just a bog standard deal.

unusual to see any fresh meat half price when its not the weekend

sometimes if they have massive stock the half price deal will carry on the next day or 2 to clear it down a bit - was some sort of pork in ours this weekend.. maybe diced chicken in london?

Lidl beef is really nice. Unlike Asda beef it isn't full of water and you don't end up pan 'boiling' your steak.

Wouldn't know about mushrooms but tastes wonderful with a strawberry sauce

Had kangaroo steak at a restaurant before and it was served with cranberry sauce. Turned out to be a fantastic combo!

I've never tried it and I don't think I ever will. Something about it makes me a little jumpy...

Lol, there's no water added to beef - you are just cooking it wrong. You need the pan/griddle (ideally cast iron) to be red hot before you add it so that it sears and keeps those (natural) juices in. Any steak would stew if you were cooking it in a pan or wok that's too small/not hot enough.

Also from my experience, Lidl beef has been the worst. The one time I had to return it because it had turned brown a day after buying it and absolutely stank when the seal was opened!

I meant none on offer. It's normal price

It tasted better than beef in my opinion but there a odd smell when cooking it. it was really tender.

No Kangaroo in my store (Leamington Spa), and the chicken deal was only until the end of the weekend. They still had it advertised as £1.34 (although it did say 'weekend deal') but scanned as full price, so this is probably expired.

Do they sell the kangaroo wool there, I want to knit a jumper?

I asked in my local Lidl about the kangaroo. The manager said it had been discontinued. They had sent their stock back to depot.

I have had similar experience with Morrisons' meat: The pork tasted weird as if it had been treated with ?? on one side. Various pork chops went bad very quickly and the chicken on promotion looked very pale and strange and I was put off even though it was a promotion. I want to give the other supermarket, especially Tesco, a kick, but oh dear... I did buy another pork chop on Friday and hpe it restores my confidence.
