Great price for EVGA modular PSU (power supply) with Gold efficiency rating. £66.98 Ebuyer

So I was looking for one of these for a while and ended up having to go for a less efficient model, which was not modular. This means my PC build has loads of wires floating around in the case that aren't needed and it'll end up using more power over the course of its lifetime. Okay so it might only amount to a few pounds saved on electricity, but it all helps. EVGA are generally a great manufacturer of power supplies.

semi-modular, not full modular

So, so true.
Great PSU! I bought the 750 version for a 7700K &1070 build and it's perfect. No redundant wires, quiet. Cables were a little tough to bend around the side of the case for cable management, and the male/female fit between connector and port was VEEERY snug.

Despite all this, would rebuy/recommend. Heat.

Nothing wrong with GQ, still a very good PSU.

It's a soft opening to a statement.

Yes, but GQ is FSP and so is G1. Only G2 is SuperFlower whereas GS is Seasonic. Nothing wrong with FSP as such, but I'd usually go for SuperFlower or Seasonic.
Having said that, if we look at only the 650W models on JonnyGuru we get these scores:
G1 (FSP) = 8.6
GS (Seasonic) = 9.1+
G2 (SuperFlower) = 9.4
GQ (FSP) = 9.4
So it looks like FSP have improved their design (or EVGA have spec'ed better parts).

It may be the 2nd lowest grade in terms of the G series. But it's still considered a Tier 1 PSU:
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

And for the price and brand. Definietely worth it.
I got a Supernova G3 650W a few weeks back for £93. But probably would have went for ths for the price.
Also - Would help if you put a proper item title, something like :

EVGA Supernova 650W GQ Gold Efficient PSU
Good power supply but E-Buyer no thanks.

This is a great power supply. I can personally attest to its reliability.

After having intermittent issues with my computer and replacing all the components to still experience the issues I guessed the issue was the only element I did not replace - the powersupply. It turns out that my old power supply was not able to provide the consistent output required by newer more power hungry components - more specifically the quad core processor and the graphics card. Replacing the old one with the has led to a very reliable computer with no more failing components.
Great PSU, running a i5 4570 and gtx 1060 6gb, switched the fan on the PSU to eco mode, never heard it kick in even after heavy gaming sessions.

Yeah, I spent a long time researching a good price/performance ratio and settled on the GQ. It's not the #1 best PSU, but I couldn't find a better 750w gold rated for less that was anyway near as reliable.

The NEX750 however... that is apparently made out of cardboard and broken dreams. Steer well clear of that one!
decent price for today's market
I was lucky enough to pick up a Seasonic X750 80+ gold fully mod PSU from Amazon for 89 (less 10 for the amazon student APPRENTICE code) back a few months ago.
As with every PSU, don't rely on brand. Read a few reviews. It's one of the most important parts of your system with the greatest variety of quality. Blown PSU often = blown system components
Not a bad PSO
Bought the 500w non modular model a while back powering a rx480 and i5 no complaints. Seems decent enough hot from me

I know, right?
eBuyer are a nightmare to deal with when something goes wrong. Absolutely abysmal customer service.
They tried to scam me out of £300 and gave Paypal a postal tracking number of someone else's purchase at the other end of the country. I had to appeal the PayPal case and even then had to make numerous phone calls to PayPal to get my money back.

Avoid them like the plague, it's just not worth the couple of quid saving, as it's clearly taken out of their "customer service" budget.
I have to agree with the comments above, for the price, the GS isn't that great. The EVGA G2 850w was about £90 on amazon with lower wattages being less obvs...

This is still a PSU that would do the job, not sure it's that great of a deal though tbh
PSU is one thing I try to buy local (I live near enough CCL) or at least amazon. Had to ship a dead one back to Scan once and they fought for months to avoid paying me return shipping and these are heavy as ****.

This was years ago before self shipping was competitive. I think the only options were ParcelMonkey (showing how long ago it was) and RM. Even then it was under a tenner but the hassle left a bad taste.

I've never had a problem with them, even when I sent things back (you do have to do it via their online returns forms). However, they once shipped me a video card loose in a big box that had "Other Side Up" printed on both sides.

Generic 550 watt that came with the bare case I built a PC in
have been using this model over a year no problems heat
So, the G1 model (fully modular) is only £3 more at Scan....

Will this be sufficient running an AMD Ryzen 1800X & 1080 Ti (or Vega when it comes out), the rest of the machine runs very little else apart from a couple of SDD and a big HDD.
Yes, it will run a 1080T.I. and r7 X 8 core. Vega will probably be similar watts looking at rx numbers.
You would be wise to go bigger psu for maximum overclocking, the last 200 meg on r7 uses a lot more power.
Thinking about it its probably not an issue in gaming.Unlikely you could max out that processor.

Yes, but don't forget that just going by the list of JonnyGuru reviews I mentioned earlier that the G1 got a worse score than the GQ:
650 G1 = 8.6 (jonnyguru.com/mod…php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=442)
650 GQ = 9.4 (jonnyguru.com/mod…php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=454)
Besides, semi-modular should be fine as it only has the main ATX mobo connector permanently connected and I think it's difficult to build a PC without that!

One wonders why a manufacturer would go to the expense of making that lead modular, considering every connector is an added weak point.
This is a good price. To be honest the difference between the g2 GS and GQ is relatively minimal, only bore out by fine issues like ripple suppression and voltage variations. This is a stonking deal for the price especially with the current currency rates. The only thing separating the g2 and GQ is that the latter has only 3-5 yr warranty, the former has 7 yr
