Great value car stereo with Bluetooth calling - £55 @ Halfords

Pioneer MVH-S300BT stereo with Bluetooth and Spotify compatibility. It even comes with a microphone in the box for better call quality. I got one earlier and am surprised at how good it is. I don’t suppose it is for everyone but for us mere mortals with normal ears it gives a good quality sound that is perfectly loud enough. It does not have a CD player but does stream audio from both android and iPhones. It also has a built in USB port capable of charging your phone.

How much does it cost to install these things with Halfords? I'd love to upgrade my basic stereo but never bothered researching. Thanks in advance

I think Halfords standard installation fee is £30 plus any extra connectors etc.

Beware the hard sell on unnecessary bits, not hard to do at home, most are plug and play, some need plug adapters.

Would avoid getting halfords to install it - a few years ago I bought a stereo at halfords and paid them for installation. Had to wander around the store for 45 mins while a staff member "tried" to fit it, he obviously didn't know what he was doing and I told him not to bother in the end. Was then furious to discover scratches on the dash where he'd tried to remove part of it! Got a refund for the installation and took the stereo to the car dealership garage, where they fitted it for £20 in minutes. I may have just been unlucky, but wasn't impressed with halfords! Heat added OP, great price for this

You've saved me a few quid.

Bought my daughter a stereo for Xmas that came with the new type connector. Thought I was gonna have to hard wire it (which I wouldn't have a clue) but read your post about the adapter (doh! why didn't I think about that!) which I just ordered. There's a Sat Nav and Reverse Camera to wire in but I should figure that out.

Thank you!

Nice one, gotta love a happy ending.
If I remember rightly if your stereo loses the radio stations when you switch off the ignition just simply swap the live and neutral wires around and reconnect. Halfords tried to sell me a wiring loom that just does that for £25 lol. Remember arguing with him as he wouldn't take my word for it. Plus look on YouTube for how to remove your old radio. I've changed them in a few cars and really easy to do if I have the right removal tools. Only trouble I had was when I had to remove a double dimm radio so had to buy a blanking plate
I bought this in Boxing Day and yep... GREAT little radio. Tip for you all.. of you want to take the thing out of DEMO mode, don’t try and do it from the menu. Before you install it properly, swap the red and yellow cable over at the back of the radio. That’s the only way! Oh and it has karaoke... just saying

Car aoke.. That's a bit Peter Kay is it not

Good luck with that, you'll need one of these.

My mistake it's the yellow and red leads with the female/male connectors on them. Live and permanent live wires they are.

I agree Halfords are a bunch of cow boys
Don't suppose anyone knows what I need to install this so it works with the steering wheel controls in a Citroen C4, do they?

This you would need an adapter. Search online or if it's more convenient get one from Halfords.

The steering adapter costs nearly as much as the stereo. I didnt bother and am happy to move my left hand to turn the volume
