Looks good thanks.

seems interesting, is it better than the RAC?

Good deal

I thought the RAC was something like a fiver after Quidco new or returning customers, not existing or renewing customers.

Price is £20, can't include quidco in the quote.

Has anyone actually got a quote of £20 yet?

got recovery plus for 63.25 and 45 off with quidco so seems brilliant and yes you can get the 19.95 cover with 5.00 quidco.

hot deal

ive always wondered about these guys - is the rarity of their vans (compared to aa's for example) an indication of their relative capabilities for coverage?

They use mostly independent garages.

Thanks

I've been with them a couple of years, and they've been great. Can't knock their service, which I've used a couple of times. They also helped me out when the bloody hound pressed the door lock button while the keys were in the ignition, locking himself in!

Cheers,

+1 - they are fantastic compared to AA/RAC. Always out within 30 mins. They use independent garages but have a large network so the wait is never long. Was too expensive for me though - I was paying a tenner/month via direct debit so cancelled last month.

May consider a more basic package though. I wonder how long you have to wait before you qualify as a returning customer?

Good offer but Quidco is not guaranteed just be aware.

You can get RAC for £5 after Quidco
You can AA for £9 after Quidco

Just check what money supermarket offer - run their search and choose what cover you want.

I got my worldwide travel insurance this way for an extended policy and its a steal compared to everyone else

I've just taken out RAC, £5 for the year after £23 topcashback. Never had a problem with RAC or AA, had to call out the latter 5 times last year and always a quick service.

5 Times............ Jeepers man - what do you drive????

nice price.

Green flag is rubbish. I used them for 2 years - they made me put new batteries on when there was no problem. Sent mechanics who did not want to come and fix the car and did not want to come in the alleyway.
RAC was good, so is AA. They are polite, professional. Green Flag's mechanics do not want to be called out. They just come and act as though the car is rubbish. That for a car which has done 40K miles and is very reliable.

My quote was £71 !!!!!! Admittedly it was for two motorbikes(i can only ride one at a time) and they are both 20 years old,but mint!

Clearly not that reliable

For the past few years I have been with GEM Assist that have no limits on callouts and rely solely on local garages. This is fine for when you need a tow home or a jump start. But for anything requiring a bit of roadside work independant garages are largely useless, they subcontract to these breakdown firms because they offer a simple tow service and thats about it.

The good thing with GEM is that the driver has to phone up and thats it, they don't ask for any other details of who the car belongs to, or even if the policy holder is in the car in the first place!

Green Flag came 10th out of 15 companies in the last Auto Express customer survey. I used to be with them and called them out twice in 2 years. Once was great the second was poor and both times they took a lot longer than an hour to arrive even though I live in Reading.

Check out what moneysavingexpert.com has to say and some of his recommendations offer quidco/topcashback. This is not an advert.

eureka - sounds like if you were using Green Flag for 2 years you infer that you were using them regularly. Maybe it was not so much the breakdown company that was at fault but your own car! That is probably backed up by your relative knowledge of the AA and RAC! You seem to be using an awful lot of breakdown companies.

Sadly it is motorists that drive around in ill maintained cars and rely on these breakdown companies to fix them/carry out basic maintenance that ultimately puts the price up for everyone else. These breakdown agreements are only Insurance Policies in effect, so like everyone claiming on their home contents insurance for any little item, the prices go up for all.

The 3 main breakdown companies have all said the same thing recently in that more penny pinching motorists are not carrying out basic maintenance thus these organisations are getting more calls now for simple things.

Ah... I see you only joined HUKD an hour and 15 minutes ago - obviously to give us the benefit of your experienced knowledge and comments of Green Flag.

Personnally I think they are great - have only had to call them out a couple of times in 4 years but they do arrive within 30 minutes - far quicker than the other 2 organisations.

I also get my full Green Flag breakdown cover FREE!- as it comes as part of a bundled packaged bank account with RBS, called Royalties. In that packaged account I also get free annual family holiday insurance; 25% off all concert and theatre ticket bookings in the UK; free 3 year extended warranty on all electrical goods i buy; guaranteed 10% discount on all travel agent bookings; 25% discount on all restaurants in the UK on their scheme [including the booze]; free full mobile phone insurance; the list goes on and on - but well worth the monthly fee. I make money out of it in actual fact.

Even if it was not for that super-duper account I would still gladly pay the fee to Green Flag rather than the other 2.

Heat added - how do you add to reputation now that the site has changed?

Aviva (who own RAC) will be doing half-price breakdown within the next week or two.

Would hold off for that, as better level of cover and better company!!

Someone can put this deal up if they want, as I don't know how...

I wouldn't want a mechanic to come in my alleyway.

We've had a bad experience with green flag so wouldn't personally recommend them.
My husband broke down on the A12 and not only did the mechanic who came out not attempt to look at his bike we was then told there was limit of 10 miles for the recovery which was not told to us when we purchased it. Who would opt for a 10 mile recovery limit in the first place?
It cost an extra £100 to travel 30 miles.

I'm about to sign up to someone as I just cancelled my breakdown cover that I had with my bank.

I'm really torn on who to use, AutoAid are kinda winning at the moment but I just don't know....

Good deal but don't include Quidco in final price as it is not guaranteed. I have had few cashbacks declined in the past.

Greenflag are the worst breakdown company ever do not use, they just leave you stranded!!!!

I am still waiting for my £25 quidco from Green Flag..... Only ordered it October LAST year.

I will recommend Fields Data Recovery for a professional recover of your hard drive. I only found them after Rapid Data Recovery referred me to them after they did a free diagnostic of my hard drive. Fields did an excellent job.
