Homebase already have a 20% off voucher this weekend as posted by ahenry. Reportedly they've been sneeky and upped the price of their stock by 20% prior to the weekend.

However I started a thread outlining for the uninitiated that you can play them off against one another. I picked out one of their highlighted deals on the website. Ensured it was available to order in-store (not sure if the additional 20% would be deducted as it says in the small print - "This 20% discount is not valid against purchases made on homebase.co.uk, over the telephone, on national 10% and 15% discount days or preview evenings, or in connection with concessions within any Homebase store"). If it can or the B&Q employee you deal with is dopey, then ideal. If not, the saving is still sizable.

Then head off to B&Q with printouts of the Homebase voucher, Homebase item and item closest to it on the B&Q website. The following is based on the voucher being accepted on the already reduced Homebase greenhouse.

i.e.

Homebase Baron Greenhouse - Horticultural Glass - Natural Frame - 8x6ft - £289 reduced to £229 (link in next post).

Print this out with voucher (so you'll have evidence you can buy it for £183.20). Take to B&Q and you'll have to pick a match, best I could find is:

B&Q 8x6 - 6ft Curved Greenhouse - Silver Effect Frame + Horticultural Glass + Base £469 in-store

There are others that are curved, not basic aluminium finish or have toughened/polycarbonate glass etc. but this was the closest.

B&Q also offer 10% of difference which is £469 - £183.20 = £285.80 (10% is £28.58)

So final price should be £183.20 - £28.58 = £154.62 1/3 or the B&Q price and half of the Homebase one. (£205ish if the voucher is not valid)

Quidco are also offering a £10 cashback on all Homebase orders over £50, you could take a print out of that too and hope the B&Q bod doesn't notice it's an online and the voucher is valid in-store.

Be aware its a bit of a lottery this, it will depend on the store, which manager you deal with and if they will recognise the Homebase Greenhouse as being a close enough match to proceed.

There will be a host of other items such as this that could be exploited this weekend if you do your homework and are savvy. If you opt for the Homebase one and go via Quidco you'll get it for £210ish with code SUMMER10 (£10 off over £50 orders) and 4% cashback on Greenhouses.

good idea, but the first thing that B&Q would point out is that their model has a curved roof. if you are going to be successful in negotiating a discount you would need to compare like with like

b&q have a similar 8x6 greenhouse to the homebase one which b&q supply as frame only for £149. then you need the glazing pack which is £110. this may be what you want to get them to beat the price on.

Agreed - it's got to be like for like, preferably a total exact match.

BTW I bought this BnQ greenhouse last year, it's pretty good, though assembly instructions were poor and didn't come with all the screws etc, so needed to revisit.
