It may be the best price now but recently 2 Gressingham duck crowns have been £5 in Asda and full ducks £4 per kilo in Tesco. No saying it's a bad deal at all but better offers do seem to come up.

Point noted....but those deals are for whole ducks......so a lot of the weight will be bones.....:p

Well the crown for £5 at Asda wasn't! An I used to get 2 breasts for £6 in Sainsburys fresh counter (don't know if it still on) which is what you get on a crown.

Duck or turkey crown is just the top half of the bird and usually you pay as much for that as you would for the whole bird. Either way, you are still paying for the bones. If you just use the top half, which is easier for carving, you can still pick the meat off the bottom half and use for sandwiches, soup or stew.

what the duck

Good price, may have to purchase one of these for xmas dinner, thanks for posting OP, have some heat!

Crispy hot

Wow! xmas quackers. Last time I had duck at a restaurant they forgot to give me the bill

I'm actually thinking of buying a frozen turkey from Aldi this year after looking at a price comparison in a daily newspaper - has anybody actually bought one before and was it ok? Only asking, as I bought a frozen chicken from Lidl's last year and when I came to cook it, it smelt awful as it had gone off even though I was going to cook it before the sell by date.

How do you turn a duck into a soul singer? Put it in a microwave until it's Bill Withers...

Is it something to do with the time bacteria multiplies once defrosted? Thats why peeps buy crowns now, as they can be defrosted in the fridge?

No, sorry, I've just never bought any frozen meat/poultry from Aldi before and so don't know if it is nice/tasty to eat as regards the quality of it, especially seeing that the frozen turkeys are a lot cheaper than some other supermarkets.

Got a duck crown from Sainsbury's once. Very disappointing, struggled to find enough meat on it for 2 people. I'll always go with a whole duck in future.
