** Gressingham Whole Duck 2KG now £5 @ Asda **

The Gressingham Duck is a remarkable breed, grown on Red Tractor assured farms in East Anglia and famous for its meaty succulence. Gressingham whole duck is fantastic with roast potatoes, vegetables and gravy.

The well-bred duck
The Gressingham breed came about when the small but flavourful wild Mallard was crossed with the larger Pekin, giving a meaty, succulent duck with more breast meat and less fat. Remember, if it's not from us, it's not Gressingham.

The cared-for duck
We breed, hatch, rear and then prepare the ducks by hand here in the neighbouring counties of Suffolk and Norfolk. We're a family-owned and run business, determined to do the right thing by our ducks.

Prefer to watch ducks swimming along our river as opposed to being served up on a plate, but if eating duck floats your boat then £5 might be a good price?

They're not the same ducks. It's not like Asda sneak down to the local duckpond every night to stock their shelves for the next day.

If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.

They are not the same ducks. Having spent most of my childhood running about the farm where these are grown (redgrave) I can tell you that these things are big scary animals. Nothing like the things that swam around the village pond.
Great price that!

Still prefer to see ducks swimming happily in a pond/river/lake or whatever as opposed to you chasing them around with the intention of slaughtering them ...but each to their own...seems like my comments have made a few folk on here go quackers ..lol...

Haha! I prefer to see all animals grazing happily in the world than served up. I prefer to see all sealife happily swimming in the sea than landed on someone's plate. I prefer to see all vegetables nicely grown out of the ground. I prefer to see all fruit hanging off trees and bushes than picked and plucked.

Oh dear, you must be eating one of the above. Oh well, each to their own! lol

So.. are you a vegetarian, or a vegan? Because if you're not, this is just you being an obtuse hypocrite, baiting people into reacting. And if you are, this is just you coming into a thread you have no business being in to push your personal views on other people. I'm not sure which is worse, don't suppose it matters...
Im going to get a couple for my freezer cheers, hot
Without my glasses on, that duck looks familiar...

Having stood shin to beak with ducks on numerous occasions, I would have thought much less than that.

Eh? It's not either /or; they're not taking them from local waterways to sell to Asda! Do both!
I went into Asda Lancaster today and these are 1kg and not whole duck...but the crown. I showed this post to the store assistant and he assured me that the picture used for this post was the 1kg crown I was looking at.

I actually enjoy the idea of ducks being slaughtered and served up on a plate instead of swimming along our river. But I guess if having potential meals floating aimlessly about is your thing, then this deal might be cold?

Great price. Once you are done with the duck, put it in a slow cooker with some veg for 24 hours and you'll get a load of stock out of it.
