Is grid any good? I had the originals but havent looked at this one.

Heat for the deal though op.
Terrible game that never gained a good enough following. Most traded in or sold, and the demo put the final nail in the coffin.

Heat for the price though
The original Grid title was probably the best racing game I've ever owned. I've been waiting to purchase this but I'm neck deep in F1 2019 at the moment so thought I'd hold off.
That being said what's the difference between this and the Ultimate version? Is it worth the extra fiver?

Or alternatively, would Project Cars 2 be a better buy? I had the first one but it was one of those games that got buried in my library and never played much.

Since getting vr games without vr support are less appealing. Dirt 2, assetto corsa, assetto corsa competizione, project cars 2, and a few karting ones are good.

Nostalgia has me tempted on this tho

Depends what you want PCars2 is much more of a sim. This is definitely less sim.

I would prefer to err on the side of sim however I doubt I'd have the time or concentration for Assetto Corsa levels of sim but I definitely don't like arcade. The Dirt and F1 games seem to have that sweet spot for me between sim and arcade. Realistic enough to be competitive but not too much so as to suck all the fun out.
I've probably answered my own question there lol.
I'm an easy man to please

Haha yeah Grid should suit that. If you can drive a decent lap then you'll easily do well here but it is quite forgiving too. AC is not forgiving in the slightest by comparison. PCars2 is a little more forgiving but still closer to AC than Grid. Hope that helps.
The actual racing and driving physics model is great. You will be punished if you don't respect RWD cars especially.

But the lack of content and dead multiplayer is a downer. It has way fewer cars and tracks than even its direct predecessor, even after its various content upgrades.

Yep absolutely Loved the original !
To think i dropped 60 quid on the ultimate version on release....proper Rodney trick that was.
Wow, that has dropped significantly! Reboot was a bad idea, missing so many modes and features compared to its 10 year old counterpart.
is it worth purchasing the ultimate edition version instead for 12.99?

This is my issue. I loved the original but would I be purchasing the 2019 version based purely on nostalgia? It's been 10+ years since I played the original Grid and I'm sure back then (still in my teens) I was all about the arcade type game. I'd like to think I've grown up just a little bit
For this price it's worth it. However, in simple terms the experience doesn't leave you wanting to play for long. The sense of speed is horrible. it feels like you're going around 30-40 MPH most of the time when on the speedo your doing 80 MPH around a bend.

Lol im 41, and bang on the retro scene! There will always be a need for it...nostalgia is good. That was my favourite racer since the virtual racing days
Is this the newest grid or classic ?
PurplePerson25/03/2020 17:32

The new one.

Thanks bro, contemplating whether it will feature in next humblebundle or is it buy now!
It is with it for this price. I've nearly finished it now but it is too similar in many ways to the previous games, a bit easier even. If you've never played any of the series it is definitely worth a go, if you've played the previous games you'll be a bit underwhelmed. Heat for the price.
This is not a bad game by any standards, I bought for £19 month or so back. £7.99 is a seriously great deal, it is more of the same GRID tried and tested format, but that's not a bad thing.

Not a hardcore sim by any standards but does well at being a pretty damn good, realistic looking arcade racer

A very well rounded argument, cheers. I'll bite for £7.99 and if it only lasts for the lock down period then it will be £7.99 well spent!

I know what you mean. That line of thinking is the reason I still don't have Darkest Dungeon.
Anything like grid 2? I loved that
