Thanks dbhoy; just noticed as I was about to buy it too

Mixed reviews on eBay got that from them - I wonder if it's a fake as you don't normally find griffin gear at a heavy discount

I didn't. I checked with Admin to find out who did though. I have however undeleted it

It is highly likely that these are fakes. It is also highly likely that they are poor quality, potentially dangerous and will very possibly damage your device. It's your choice though. If the real ones, well most likely real, are available from Amazon for £8.22, then I know who I would buy from.

yeh never trust these 2 USB output ones. it does blow fuses n sometimes it effects the whole car electrics

My Anker dual port one works great in my car.

I have two Belkin 2.1 Amp twin USB adaptors that have worked fine for over a year. They were expensive but worth it. The unbranded, so not fake, adaptor I had before expired in a cloud of smoke in the process killing a Sansa Clip Mp3 player and seriously damaging a Nexus 4 phone, not good.

Sold and used loads of these, never had a problem or a fail which is surprising

Good find

Yes but being that these are probably fakes the ones you were selling and using may well have had completely different insides. Just because they look the same outside doesn't mean they are the same. Read the sellers feedback - loads of their buyers have had faulty or non-working adaptors from them. They are most likely fakes.

Beware ppl puchased one of these this year, started smoking out the car and blew the fuse, beware!!!

Not to comment whether fake or not but it's worth to mention that at one point those GRIFFIN USB sockets were VERY SHORT and for that reason they were USELESS in some cars with deeper cigarette lighter sockets.
Happened to me. Couldn't test the reliability of them.

Had a few similar cheapo ones of these all have failed very quickly.

I bought a Tomtom fast charger a couple of weeks ago when it was posted here. It actually charges(the battery charge percentage increases) my phone when I use it as a satnav.

I have another charger which I use in another car and that does not increase my charge while using the phone as satnav.

genuine griffin dual sockets works perfectly... eBay fakes for less than 2quid though completely different matter

Had a genuine one of these for years now and works perfectly. Had no issues with blown fuses or with it not charging due to fitment

I bought a similar one to this which claimed to be a "Griffin" but found it caused interference on my car radio, so makes me believe it was not a genuine Griffin

how much normally are the official ones?

These are fake!

About eight quid, I've have had a genuine one (from Tesco) for about three years, works perfectly.

It'd be stupid to buy this fake crap and risk trashing whatever you plugged into it to save seven quid!

ooh, i'd pay that! which one do you have? does it allow you to play music then on the system?

I have a juice pack, so do i plug my juice usb cable into this?

amazon.co.uk/Bel…car

Great price as long as it's not a fake.

I went for the Scosche as recommended at The Wire Cutter and an so glad I did - no more warnings on the iPhone of incompatible cables: m.thewirecutter.com/rev…er/

Same as this but the genuine version! Buy from Amazon direct to get the real thing don;t go for the marketplace sellers:

amazon.co.uk/gp/…-21

It's just a charger if you want to play music through the stereo you'll need to use something else too (e.g. FM transmitter, cable, Bluetooth etc. depending on your stereo and device!).

But it is a fake, the "too good to be true" price gives it away but the comment in the listing

OEM, NO retail packaging

confirms it, they can't be bothered to fake the packaging for your £1.25.

I used it before and will never use it again. very poor quality.

Use at your peril. I bought one and the phone battery gets incredibly hot when being charged (which I don't experience using a regular charger).

read the negative feedback of the seller, they are FAKES !...voted cold, at that price what do you expect to get ?..genuine ones LOL !

Fake.

Good luck with that - I bought one from Amazon (direct, not through a marketplace seller!) last year and received a fake. Luckily I'd previously bought one and got the full packaging, so recognised immediately. I contacted Amazon, who were hopeless - said they'd contact me with results of their investigation and didn't - and tried not to refund until it was complete!!, and Griffin who confirmed it was a fake.

Fakes come in a plastic bag and are often packaged with a 30-pin iPhone cable. The real ones don't have that.

I bought a genuine griffin one from Tesco a few years ago. It was under 10 quid works flawlessly only issue with it is its a 1amp charger with 2 ports, so charges one thing at 1amp or 2 things at 0.5amp each

BAD feedback.

Beware these are not made by griffin. Cheap Chinese imports. The one I purchased myself worked intermittently!

I would say this Charger is fake at his price... I've had a Belkin one from play.com for £4 and it was the fakest think i've ever seen!!!
buy some spare fuses for your car.

OK...
(Unless the charger was a low voltage charger... let's presume it's not...)
It's all to do with the data pins..
I've a dual charger which has a normal charger and an apple compatible charge socket..Using my normal data cable in the apple one, the phone will discharge while using Satnav. Using the other the phone will charge.

Options are carefully buying a good quality charger (I got a veetop 4v although it was £10 with the issue above) or getting a charge only cable which will switch off the issue.. The charge only cables will also give faster charging - The brand I use are PortaPow circa £5 on ebay/amazon (depending on whether you have prime for postage).

Summary:
if buying a charge socket make sure it's good quality and not fake...
if you get one and your phone discharges, try the other socket...
if your phone discharges you may need a charge only cable...

I got one of these but noticed that if I have sat nav running on my phone whilst its plugged in the battery hardly charges at all. Pretty poor. Wouldn't surprise me if its fake as it was cheap from eBay.
