How do you get children to understand when it's time to get up?

Simple: "stay in bed until you see the sun!"

The Gro-clock teaches children when it's time to sleep or get up using pictures of the moon and sun. It also comes with a beautifully illustrated book which helps to encourage children to stay in bed longer.

Suitable for children from 2 years.

Features
A glowing screen shows images of moon abd sun to communicate 'sleep' and 'wake-up time'
Stars go out one-by-one during the night to show the passing of time
Key-lock option
Adjustable screen brightness
Silent operation
Optional digital clock and audible alarm feature
Mains powered (adapter included)
Fun bedtime story book

These including postage seem to be about £40 elsewhere - on Amazon its about £33 plus 7 quid postage. Couldn't find it cheaper and with collect from store its a deal it's a steal!

I like it as it looks very easy to read, is also a night light, comes with a mains adapter and is 20% off in Boots at the moment.

can you set the time for when the sun comes up?

Good idea, my son's an early riser and he learnt numbers pretty fast so i used a digital clock. On a Sat/Sun if the first number's a 7 go and watch CBeebies! If it's an 8 Dad'll get up, if it 's a 9 your Mum and/or older sister might!

I believe it's fully configurable!

This is being reduced as there is a new version coming out in May which will be cheaper with the following improvement taken from the Gro website.
"Due to popular request, this 2010 version of the Gro-Clock has a new feature allowing parents to choose whether or not to display the digital clock during the usual ‘stars to sun’ countdown. So for older children, they can now start to learn digital time, as well as look for the arrival of the sun! "
Boots must have over ordered and trying to get rid of the old stock before the new release

what makes you say it will be cheaper? IMO it will be 40 quid with one relatively pointless feature?

RRP of current one is £39.99. The new one will be £29.99 hence the rush from Boots to get rid

What a total waste of money.

Only in your opinion, which in my opinion is pointless. Anyway 30 quid isn't that much money.. only about 6-7 pints.. so what's the problem!?

Looks like a solution in search of a problem. If a child is old enough to take that responsibility they should be learning to recognise the time. If they are too young then they shouldn't be taking that responsibility. Yes you are quite correct it is my opinion. Still let the thermometer decide.
