Another novice question to add to the discussion!

When is a good time to start applying this to the grass? End of March?

Keep an eye on temperature - grass seed needs at least 7c to germinate. If you sow too early birds will have it all before it has a chance. End of March may be a bit early. It will grow fast in early May

Looking for advice - if I just liberally spread this over some areas of lawn that are looking a bit patchy, still grass there but not as dense as other areas - is that it? Keep it watered and let nature do it’s thing or is there more to it? Sorry bit new to this lawn keeping thing!

I usually rough the soil up a little bit with a rake then put the seed down. Put a light bit of soil over the top and then water plenty. Always worked fine for me!

It's been this price since December. I'm waiting for it to drop again, there's quite a lot of stock about near me (8 bags some stores). Last year I got this size for £20 from HB.

That's decent for £20 I thought with the season now starting it was a good price.
