fair play Boz - but all you have to do is divide up your supermarket garlic bulb into the individual segments then stick it in the ground, garlic is hardy so you could do this successfully in autumn, winter or spring - one of the easiest things to grow

if you want a fancier garlic bulb, order them online eg from the Isle of Wight garlic farm thegarlicfarm.co.uk/

A problem with lots of supermarket alliums is that they are treated with a retardant that stops them from sprouting.
Not all but is true as a general rule. The key is to use ORGANIC garlic because it has not been sprayed with a growth inhibitor chemical. That’s correct. Regular garlic has been treated so that it doesn’t sprout in the grocery store. If your grocery store carries organic produce look in that section for garlic. It may also be located near the non-organic garlic. Don’t be fooled by the word, “natural”. The word “natural” does not guarantee the garlic is free from chemicals. If you can’t find organic garlic , try garlic with these labels: “minimally processed” and “all natural”.

Well my garlic should be fine as the only "grocery stores" that I know are over the Atlantic in the states

Stinking deal!

Just roasted some in the oven. Now spreading on a baguette, yum yum

Cheers

Everyone was complaining after I started my new garlic diet so I went to the GP and he confirmed that I had Italitosis.
