Seems like a decent price for an entry level GT. Better than the usual cheap rubbish that pops up from time to time. Better to save a few more quid and get something like this for just over £200 quid.

Decent components and build quality will give you a pleasant riding experience without breaking the bank. If looked after correctly something like this will last you years.

Never heard of this company before 'Winstanleys Bikes' but these seem to be quite a bit cheaper than other retailers for this bike so worth a punt if you are after a new budget bike.

Apart from the frame, everything else is pretty low end.

Compared to the Cqrreras this is awful. Maybe the frame is alright but the drivetrain is terrible. The fork has little travel isn't very good at all. Wheels are not great.
Save up a bit more and get a decent hardtail.

what do you expect for £209 seems a good deal to me!

It will do a job for £210 and you will get a warranty with it. Even the low end components will give a smooth ride if looked after. Much better than the Sports Direct and Argos £150 tat.

Agreed. It's nothing special but it's as good as you'll get for the money and worth the extra over the really cheap tat.

Freewheel not cassette, pretty low end and with a 42t largest front chain ring you won't be going anywhere fast on this.

Erm, no. There are far better bikes from Halfords for about the same price that come on HUKD a lot.

Lot of people moaning about this bike, but they all seem to have forgotten to put links to better bikes for the same money...

This is no great bike but has a good brand name. I haven't noticed any far better deals for the same price, you'd have to point one out.

Sports Direct do a Muddy Fox for £200 with slightly better gears but all the Shimano low end gears are about equal in real use terms. Somebody will not really be able to tell the difference between Tourney and Alcera. I would also put my money on the GT frame over the MuddyFox, that alone has to be worth a few quid in itself.

I have also seen a lot of people who have suffered from the usual wheel hub nightmare where the wheel hub comes loose on the MuddyFox. My mate got one for Xmas a year or so ago and had the same problem.

I know the GT also has cheap alloys but I would hope they are better built than on a MuddyFox for around the same price.

Here is a link to a similar priced MuddyFox, I know where I would throw my £200 for an entry level bike to get from A to B. sportsdirect.com/mud…240

I got my Cube nicked last week and been looking for a cheap bike to tide me over until I can get the funds for a good second hand one, so just went for a cheap £50 second hand Diamond Back Chinook, proper old skool, rides smooth as butter. But, a lot of people will not buy second hand, I only paid £190 for the Cube but for anyone wanting a bike and need to buy brand new can't really do any worse than this GT for £200.

Yeah B'twin are about the best bikes for your buck you can get below £500. Never looked higher as I would never pay more for a bike for my needs.

The one I've linked to is only 200.

Yeah mate, I just meant all B'twin bikes up to about £500 are very good value for money. Never looked above that as it is way above my limit.

Bikes for different pockets, pay more you get more. I can see this is fully loaded, that is with what looks to be the cheapest components.

That's a great bike for the money. Even a decent weight.

This is how you engage with people in real life? Or just from behind your keyboard in the imaginary world of the internets? The latter I'd suggest seeing as the former would probably result in a good shoe-ing. Anyway my dear manner-less colleague, the point I was trying to make was that you could get an equivalent standard of bike for £110 pounds cheaper than the OP albeit for one day only. The was price is/was of no concern and was not being used in any comparison.

See, I am now awake! But you will take some time to grow up. Have a good day and try to become a nicer chap.

The BTwin brand really does top out on the budget comparison tables across the board. I thrash an old TRiban 3 on a commute. It's been very good.

I like how people judge bike quality by beating someone that probably isn't even racing.

Hi Rev, I think you misunderstand... the triban is a road bike that I thrash on my commute. no one else involved, just me. on my triban. thrashing. ie - I take no care of it, and I drive it into the ground, yet it takes my abuse and keeps coming back with it's puppy dog eyes saying woo let's go again.

Of course, you are correct in saying I am judging bike quality just not by racing anyone or anything. just because it stands up to the abuse of a daily commute.

cheers.

Misunderstood

Voted hot as anything that gets more people out on a bike is good in my books.

However the B'Twin looks better for around the £200 mark (providing they have it in your size).
