Don’t really understand carbon frames without a minimum of 105. Isn’t it a bit like a Ferrari with cheap tyres?

What's wrong with tiagra?

i have the 2x10 tiagra on a diverge adv road bike and its been smooth, looks great, perlescent green blue metal and shifts well. i've heard the previous tiagra wasnt great.
In terms of upgrading no point unless to 11 speed and then i'd want the hydraulic shimanos to replace the trp spyre brakes that are adequate. looking at a big investment for that

It's the same price at Rutland Cycles but with a Save50 code to knock off another 50 quid for today only.

Nope. Because cheap tyres will completely render the Ferrari useless. Losing a couple of gears won't spoil this bike too much.

Now that Tiagra has the new shifter hoods and chainset there's not a massive difference. If you're going to use the bike a lot then putting up with Tiagra until you wear it out gets you onto the better frame for a given purchase price.

That's a bit of a year 2000 attitude no? When min spec even for the winter bike was 105 or you wouldn't dare show up on the club run! I think the technology has changed so much in recent years a tiagra groupset is on an par if not better than the 105 groupsets of the past!

Nothing is wrong with the latest Tiagra. Trickle down tech really does benefit us.

Tiagra 4700 is better than the old 105 5700. I know cos I have both. Its very, very nearly 105 11 speed 5800 with just 1 less cog on the cassette. The downshift feels identical, the upshifts are slightly spongier feeling. For winter/gravel bikes that take a lot of abuse its great - because chains and cassettes that are 10 speed are dirt cheap these days!

Got a question if anyone can help. I have a claudbutler San remo 2007, can I fit some larger tires? Atm I've got some 700x25c but I am always afraid of getting a puncture (happened twice) when riding near the canal (not always pavement)

What's the gap between your tyres and the frame, and are your wheels straight .
plenty of gap and yes, the. Yes you can get wider tyres, mines quoted as 30 max, came with 28s , I'm running 32s no problems so far

What's wrong with crc and wiggle?

Since crc warehouse has been incorporated into wiggle, the site has plenty of stockouts , website items have been down where you cannot add to basket early am, orders have been split up, everything shipped in boxes that won't fit through a letterbox, wrong items being received, returns not being refunded , paying for next day delivery and items subsequently oos with no communication and /or not shipped for a week

the usual you expect when two big online retailers merge operations The last few weeks singletrack message board is full of complaints

Bike not available anymore. Any advice on Bike under £1k, preferably under £800, with priority on the frame, so that next year can upgrade wheels, following year groupset etc?

Thank you, I'll have a look tomorrow and maybe take some pictures and post them, hopefully this will save me from buying a new bike. The problem is that I can't have two as I don't have the space to keep them.
