Seems like an excellent price for the '1' version of this (the previous '2' deal got quite hot.

I know I only seem to post bike deals but yet another bike has been stolen so I've been looking for a while. Good brand, 29'' wheels (what I've been looking for) and disc brakes. Yes fork and gears are cheap but it's a lot of bike for £225 (delivered)

I haven't seen a 29er with discs with available stock for this price before. I do remember a Mongoose from Halfords recently but the stock was gone in an instant.

Clown wheels I can understand to some degree, but mechanical disc brakes are a poor option, better off with a set of V-Brakes to be honest as they will be more powerful.

And the comment about cable discs is ridiculous. Another marketing victim.

I agree that buying a bike purely for the brand is unwise, but we're not really paying a premium here. The cheapest 29er with discs at Halfords is more expensive then this deal. The sell on value will also be higher for a GT than a Mongoose. In the past I changed mechanical discs to hydraulic for about £35 (chain reaction Clarks I think). Then you've got a £250 29er from GT with hydraulic.
