So tempted by one of these, just not sure if i'm better off picking up one of the bargain 980 Ti's that are going around now

On average a stock 1070 is faster than a stock 980ti. The 980ti uses more watts, and doesn't allow the new things you can do in software. The 980ti need to be ~£100 less to even worth thinking about, unless you already have one and want to do SLI. My 2 cents.
Decent price for these model currently so I've voted hot, but I want one to go with my white and black theme!
Not a good price at all, I'm waiting for normal prices to show up, at this rate I'll end up picking up a 1080ti for my left arm.
Terrible price, dont get deluded with these price tags, this is a great card yes, but it is not worth that tag.
tbh it is all about what you are going to be playing and how much you are willing to pay the 1070 and 1080 both offer an increase on 30% on their predecessor but the price per card is higher.

AMD lover will say the new 480 will top the 1080 in crossfire and is cheaper but the UK price for 2 will be around £450 min on release in which case the 1070 will be cheaper. With some easy tricky on the card you can overclock wouldn't be an **** kick of the 1080 ref. Atm pound per FPS I would say the 1070 is the better card hence the post.

edit

for 980ti vs 1070, the 1070 takes it and goes up to battling with the titan x.

In terms of price / performance, the AMD card will take it. The problem is they don't have a higher end card so if you want this level of performance you need two mid end cards which isn't very good (IMO I would want to buy a single card now and a duplicate at a later date so obviously would want a better single card now).

Remember AMD cards can be overclocked too. But they can also have they prices inflated to hell like nvidias new cards have been. $380 RRP for blower aftermarket 1070s...actual price is £390 for a blower aftermarket. If you want a fan card then you are looking at minimum the price in this post. In summary, no thanks and I wish AMD had cards that were in the same category to compete with this nonsense.
Bloody painful to see this voted cold when it's £500 now on amazon, would've loved this information a couple of weeks ago.
Bought - currently £430. Most prices have increased - amazon have lowest price but highest demand there so stock will be a consistent problem. I'm upgrading from a MSI 970 so their prices will depreciate more overall than the drop in price when demand lessens for 1070.
I got one of these from scan this week for £420.

Very cool and quiet.
