Pc gaming is so expensive!!!

You could apply that logic to any category.
Driving is so expensive because supercars exist.
Eating is so expensive because Michelin star restaurants exist.
Photography is so expensive because full frame cameras and high end lenses exist.
Clothes are so expensive because designer labels exist. Etc.

You don't need to buy a 1080Ti to game on PC. A £200 card will give you a great experience. It all depends on what resolution, framerate and graphical quality you want to play at. Just like a car if you want to max everything out and have the fastest thing out there you gotta pay the price.

The 1080 Ti is unaffected by the mining craze as the price:performance is not as good as the lower end cards.
If anything mining has brought the cards price down as retailers will want to clear inventory and make space on shelves.

That's actually a good price. I can find no cheaper, and used cards are selling for more on eBay, so hot from me!

1080ti's haven't been effected by mining at all, except maybe by coming down in price. Probably due to all other tier graphics cards selling such high volumes. Great time to buy a 1080ti if you were wanting one.

Only if you want the best 4k or 1440p 144Hz+ setup. Gaming at console detail levels and you can build a pc for about the same price as this GPU that will also do a lot more than any console. Also games are cheaper and no subscription fees to play online.

This is a normal price for a top end GPU. This price is about the cheapest since launch and has not been impacted by mining. The 1060 & 580 are hardest hit by mining and prices are ridiculous for the performance.
At 4k my 1080 was struggling on nearly every game.. details all low.
With the 1080 TI it's working fine now miles smoother and can put the quality levels up.

The 1080 was overclocked as well... The TI was not.
I would say if gaming at 4k then choose the TI.

Cant argue with that but its also the best and most flexible.
Better than the prices we seen on prime day where the Asus one was £666 if I recall correctly , personally I'm waiting for Vega to release fully so I can decide which route to go when upgrading from 1080p to 1440

I'm building my ryzen build in the next couple of weeks hopefully and was looking at a 1080 but at this price might have to get a ti version

You've obviously never been in to OcUK's store. There's normally a lot of greasy haired spotty single council house types hanging around.

At that resolution, you could probably see through the blocks!

Wait a couple years for 4k at a reasonable price.
1440p seems redundant now.

Vega will probably have excellent compute performance but weak gaming performance compared to these cards. As such it isn't going to depress the prices of GTX1080ti very much, the 1070 and 1080 might come down in price slightly however.

As such by the time Vega arrives though you might be advised that even the GTX1080ti will only keep it's value for another 6 months at most, because Nvidia's Pascal range are well over a year old now and due for replacement early next year

You're right, I bought the Asus ROG OC version for that. I avoided the Gigabyte due to several reviews on Amazon complaining about significant coil whine. I think the EVGA was also on offer for the same price.

I still think we are several years from a single GPU being able to push 4k @ 144Hz, even a 1080Ti will drop under 60fps if you turn settings up on the latest AAA games. When I last looked there were still no 4k high Hz monitors and just rumours on possible release dates. I'd take a 1440p 144Hz setup any day over 4k 60Hz but I play FPS and racing games. My guess is 4k at the same price and performance of current 1440p 144Hz setups is at least 5 years away.
With Vega just around the corner (14th Aug), I can see the GTX 1080 ti fall in price to probably around the £600 mark, maybe less for the founders edition. Therefore if you can wait just over a week, you will likely see the official performance numbers for Vega when the embargo lifts on reviewers, followed by likely price drops on GTX 1070,1080 and 1080 ti.

Same for me, £638 is tempting but I'm gonna wait the 9 days extra to see what happens with Vega release and then decide if I'm ready to waste money on a Ti, hopefully there'll be a little more choice on cheaper Ti's

It definitely isn't, PC gaming gives you options at almost any price bracket. If you have an RX580 or GTX1060 you're good for any 1080P gaming. Depends what you want.
What game is even worth anywhere near that sort of money right now that needs that power, the only game i feel like playing atm is pubg and that is cpu limited. Ofc i would still love this beast.

You could say that about any future upgrades , if I waited then a new technology would be available in just a few more years.

Right now I'm looking to go from 23" 60hz 1080p to a 27" 1440p 165hz gysnc/freesync , which I know will make a huge difference, with a 1080ti I'd be able to achieve everything the monitor has to offer , where as with 4k like @stuellis said for now you're stuck at 60hz and even the ti won't always be able to achieve that so I think right now 1440p is a better choice (for me)
That's not a bad price, but I got the MSI GeForce GTX 1080 ti Gaming X model from Amazon a few weeks back for £649.99 on prime. Much better cooler than this Gigabyte model.

I've got the standard gtx 1080 msi gaming Z with the same cooler. I can concur it's incredibly quiet and allows for decent overclocking.

Depends on your resolution, framerate and settings targets. Also whether you think ultra settings over very high or high is worth the jump in price you need to invest.
That's the cool thing I like about playing on a PC. Besides being able to upgrade it, the amount of scaleability.

If you play at very high 1440p for example, a 1070 is pretty much all you need atm.
Seems my GTX970 will be serving me well far into 2018 if these prices continue. lol

I'm always suspicious when someone puts a review embargo on their product until very close to release - makes me feel they have something bad they want to keep hidden until it's too late (people have already bought it). If they had confidence in it they should be able to let people know what the performance will be like from trusted sources.

Hope we don't get a repeat of a few years ago where they "lost" a billion transistors between marketing and launch.

Anything that helps bring down the current high prices in graphics cards is welcome.

I think it's more likely they want to hold back the info later rather than sooner so Nvidia don't drop their prices in order to compete, thus losing sales (not that they're going to lose sales thanks to miners)
Will this bring huge improvement for VR gaming, on oculus? Or the cheaper 1060, 70, 80 gtx ones enough? Thank u

Good price. The sad thing is by now I thought I'd be successful enough to be able to afford to build a PC with a GPU this expensive but somehow I've gotten the the point where I only really buy used PC parts and my entire next system won't cost as much as this card, oh well.
Pre Order so may never eve ever turn up ! Good deal if they do so voted hot

similar price here and in stock with 5 year warranty from ZOTAC

Almost anything! A 1080Ti will still only achieve around 125-135FPS in Witcher 3, Ultra with Hairworks off. So you'd be missing out on that extra 10-30FPS taking it to 144FPS/165Hz OC (on my Acer Predator XB271HU). That's my experience with a watercooled 7700k, 2Ghz 1080Ti. Time for an upgrade already?
