Got one of these a couple of months ago for £30. One of the best investments I have made for DIY, cut through scaffolding planks like butter.
Guild = Positec = WORX.
I'm looking for something to trim internal doors after the new carpet fitting. Can this be any good?

That’s what I’ve bought one for. The doors I am cutting are 35mm thick and this saw will cut as deep as 52mm.

Larger saws will cut deeper, but for occasional DIY use I thought this was good enough for the money.

Will this be OK for cutting hardwood kitchen tops about 30mm?

Yes - ideal (with care) but you'll have to take the doors off to do it.
