Most things are these days.
can anyone verify if this works? Last time I bought a cheap planer from argos (admittedly ten years ago) the blades were not sharp enough to cut softwood cleanly.

Will let you know at the weekend after (hopefully) fitting new internal doors 🤞

Cheers might go for this was going to order a erm manual planer so this will do nicely I hope.
Bought! Thanks OP! Have also got the Guild vacuum which have found to be excellent
Bought this tondo a few jobs and to be fair it's fine for the money.

Rocking horse s**t. No delivery, and quite a drive. Hope locally you find one.
Is this better than the 25 quid planer you can get at Screwfix?
Got one to help me fit 8 softwood panel doors The guild planner broke after the 7th. Motor burnt out Blade retention was quite poor. Ended up getting a cheap sale replacement from Machine and Mart which was far superior in everyway. Maybe I was unlucky but avoid ALL guild tools from now on. Not voted cold just wanted to share my experience with this product.

Blade will be sharp enough, but in my experience the tool didn't last. See my other comments if interested. Thanks
I bought a Guild jigsaw which went pop on second use. Exchanged it, and the replacement has worked fine since.
Comparing with the Screwfix offering:
- Guild offers chip extraction on either side whereas Screwfix one is only one side
- Guild has a rebate tool, Screwfix doesn’t

Other than that the same. Can buy replacement blades from Screwfix though:

Please correct me if I’ve misread something

Yh exactly 2 argos nearest me are.. Shut prob permanently. Bit stupid u would have thought have one click and collect (covid secure) point in high street would solve multiple stores issues.
Wouldn't touch it!! A lot of Guild stuff ends up for sale on Gate 5 Capital LLC autions on ibidder i-bidder.com/en-…240
All customer returns and ALL FAULTY !!! Bought a Circular Saw from them, arrived dead -- motor burnt out -- avoiding them like the plague since!!
Why does this need power?!

I have had this years, works well on everything I've used it on inc. scaffolding boards

(I have returned a Guild drill and multi tool though and wouldn't buy this brand again)

The blade is on a cylinder and spins really *king quickly. So easy to plane, pretty easy and accurate to adjust, mind you don't over do it though. Gently does it.
Given how hard they’ve tried to make it look like a Ryobi, I reckon it’s going to be a pile of if you have to make it look like something else to sell it, it’s crap
