Unlike most MMOs you can play Guild Wars well AND have a life.

Cut the internet connection or go for the keyboard/mouse and watch the meltdown ;-)

WoW is still the king off MMO's as it has the largest following by far thus resulting in the developers (Blizzard) having more money, resulting in more development time and a lot more content. Basically, by the time you've clawed your way through all the end-game content, a huge patch will be waiting around the corner to add a ton more content to keep you going for a few more months.

Guild Wars is still a great MMO for something that isnt subscription based. It does has severe limitations though due to this, as the servers are set in such a way that you can only see other players whilst in certain small zones, which basically act as lobbies. The gameplay is also severely limited too (you cant even jump or swim!). You can invite friends to quest with etc outside of these areas, but they will be the only people you see. Guild Wars is also a lot more Player versus Player focused once your level capped, so keep that in mind too

Oh I see, so Wow stll wins then:thumbsup:

WOW is dying imo its still the buiggest because it works and people are too lazy to move. Ok to try but you will get bored. Hopefully the next big thing will beStar Wars Old republic or Diablo 3.

Blizzard are very lazy with new content.

This game is a lot more casual than WoW, WoW seems to have a lot of fanatics, and an awful lot of boring grinding gameplay involved, i.e. killing the same thing repeatedly either to level up or to gather materials to craft items.
From what i've heard/seen, WoW is a giant timesink.
Ontop of that you have to pay for WoW monthly and Blizzard also encourages you to pay them for extra things to make your character better (i.e. mounts). Not to mention the various expansions

Guild wars is a single one off payment to buy the game, and then that's it. They also dont try to encourage you to give them money for item upgrades (at least they didnt when i played it a few years ago)

In my opinion, it has a much more casual feel. It has a large number of fun quests/areas, a less serious playerbase, and is pretty fun experience without any grinding. (IIRC they designed the game to not have any grind gameplay)

GW's level cap is 25, or somewhere around there, and it's not particularly hard to obtain. However, once you've done each of the quests once there isnt much replay value involved, but there's hundreds of quests involved in this pack (possibly a thousand?) There's easily 100+ hours worth of fresh gameplay in this pack.
The fact that this game has sort of an "ending" is also seen as a plus by many people, so it doesnt turn into an endless timesink.

Then there's PvP in Guild Wars that can provide ongoing interest for some people, but i never really got into that aspect of it myself.
However, from what i've heard, the PVP in GW is a lot more balanced than WoW's offerings. You dont need to constantly sink time into the game to ensure you have the best equipment to stay competitive in PvP, it's more skill based than equipment based because there's no outlandish "uber" weapons or armour.

I did want to provide a balanced view of GW, but, it's been so long since ive played GW i cant particularly think of the bad points anymore

Also bare in mind that Guild Wars 2 is due to come out either late this year or early next year, though that could easily be delayed again.

Either way this package is awesome value, heat/rep
Kinda tempted to pick it up myself again

p.s. Sorry for rambling, hopefully this post was useful to someone

Disclaimer: i haven't played WoW, and only played the original Guild Wars, not the expansions.
My knowledge of WoW comes from multiple friends repeatedly telling me why it was such a terrible game, in detail, whilst still continuously playing it like addicts =p
(I'm a fan of good game design, which is why i indulged them in these conversations)

Hot. Paid this for each game/expansion separately.

Top price!! U get 4 games for the price of 1 and no monthly fee!! I bought this collection 1 year a ago and it was on for £17.99...

Guild Wars is not an MMORPG, it is a CORPG (Co-operative Online Role Playing Game). Part of what makes it good is that it isn't a clone of every other online rpg out there, it is a lot more tactical/strategic, without necessarily requiring endless grinding and dedication. I played up to Nightfall a couple of years ago, and intending to buy EotN sometime before GW2 (which will be an MMO, but subscription free and not another EQ clone).

Great deal.

Just ordered. I have the original game but none of the expansions. The expansions are normally 12 to 15 quid each so this is a brilliant deal.

Great game and a great deal. For any newcomers the sequel Guild Wars 2 is coming out early next year, which looks brilliant. The original does have it's faults, but considering the cost, it is well worth it.

I like aion. Don't like paying out cash monthly thought =*(

The Blizzard 9.99 expansion for this is the best thing about Guild Wars IMO

I played both this and WoW a few years back, they each have their place. WoW is much more flexible and has a huge player base, but it costs a monthly fee so you feel obliged to play it day-in, day-out just to justify the cost. Guild Wars is much more casual, because you're not paying each month you can take it at your own pace without feeling robbed. However, both games require a lot of dedication if you want to operate as part of a guild. I quit WoW because I had to keep an appointment book of where and when I needed; it was too much like being at work

Heat added. The value can't be argued with.
I have each individually but haven't got through much yet.
Also despite them having similar age, WoW is fugly compared to this :P.

Same price but in the 2 for 25 quid promotion on Play

great game just bought as my trial has ended
