First post so go easy! Owned quite a few Fenders and this is a great guitar - a little more eccentric than strats and teles but might make you stand out from the crowd a little. Know someone who owns one and it sounds great - excellent for blues/rock stuff.

I have no idea why anyone is voting this cold...

Good price, and love the sound, but will stick with my Ibanez for playability.

Fair comment - love Ibanez too. Nearly bought one from a second hand shop recently until I discovered it was a Chibanez!

I would love to own one of these, I can't even play the guitar, But having a Fender guitar is something I have always wanted, If not just to stand up proudly in my room like an expensive ornament.

Heat added from me.

I love maple necks

Not a bad guitar for the price but looks a bit of a mess. If I wanted this sound I'd buy a jazzmaster. Much cooler IMO.

personally, if i'm gonna drop coin on a Fender, it's got to be proper, none of this cheapass outsourcing to China bs

if i want a cheaply built guitar, i'll buy a cheap guitar

China Fenders are really, really good these days though. I recently spent an hour in a guitar shop and tried out some teles: a £150 squire, £400 mexi, £600 baja, £1000 USA and a £2500 custom shop. Best playing and feeling guitar, by some way, was the £150 squire. Madness (best sounding was the custom shop obviously, but thats just electronics and wiring, not craftsmanship). 5 years ago china guitars were bobbins, but these days theres not a lot in it. It's an old school musicians thing that keeps us shelling big cash these days.

some of the Squier stuff can be really good these days, but it can also be very, very hit & miss
I suspect your guitar shop found a good one and had it nicely set up for the shop floor

I have a MIJ custom Ibanez that plays nicer than anything I've ever had the pleasure of, and trust me, it's worth the money.
but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a cheap one, because they are very well made things these days.
'cheap' is the word there though, 200 odd is cheap imo, 400 and up isn't particularly
