How does APF 20 compare with N95?

I think the N95 was made by nokia. dont know who made the APF 20.

FFP2 would be for bigger particles (not good enough)Also, this is a valved type which makes breathing out easier however if the wearer has got something it does stop him from breathing it out. Also I can't see the point (for virus protection) in having carbon in the filter. That just adds to the expense.

I've had that with a few sellers on eBay but the item got delivered a couple days after anyway unexpectedly... Not sure if it's something on eBay's side or if seller has no updated their status.
Won't let me purchase?

Breathing will be slightly laboured I’d imagine so probably not wise to exercise in these

Wont be comfortable, no. I have this and used last summer to do some work to our loft. Was pretty unbearable in the heat
Anyone know where the filters for these are in stock.. not been able to get any since feb!
i have a P3 mask and i find it is difficult to breathe through it after 30 minutes or so, and it gets very wet. it is smaller and less bulky than this one, so i would assume although this will be great for protecting the wearer, you will be taking it off after about 30 minutes and breathe fresh air!

You will harm your body if you exercise with a mask on. Look into hypercapnia and respiratory acidosis.
Previous thread on masks just got deleted by Mods saying against the rules with no explanation. When right now masks are a topic that should not be deleted.

The Government dept for silly ideas now want to make regs to compulsory wear masks on trains and buses, but don't tell you wear to buy them?

Screwfix won't sell them to the public, Boots always aoear out of stock unless you want to buy 100.

Has anyone a link where to buy reusesable decent masks?
The Government think the plebs can all make Blue Peter Masks out of stock back plastic an old egg box and a squeezy bottle!

Someone should make Boris Johnson masks with eye cut outs. It will be interesting if the regs define where a mask if at all covers.
There is no evidence masks work, unless you have the virus and are coughing, in which case you should be self isolating indoors anyway! 😷

A dust mask would be more suitable for that. This is if you want to remove asbestos or something else hazardous
Fortunate that I bought a JSP Force 8 respirator with P3 filters a couple of weeks before Covid was a thing.

Done all kinds of sanding (Easifill, old painted surfaces, wood) during lockdown. It was noticeable with the cheap disposable masks that you'd still end the day with the inside of your nose caked in dust and a headache, but with these types of rubber masks with filters you're actually protected. Well worth the extra expense.

Latest information states a virus carrier can be highly contagious two days before they have any symptoms. So a mask will help.

As regards masks, try Respro, or Cambridge mask Co, you can buy lots on Etsy and there are some on Amazon as well.

Adidas have 3 reusable face masks for £12.95 delivered, ive got some they are 2 layers and washable, I read somewhere if you cut a bit of those blue jay cloths up and add to the fabric mask it makes it medical grade but don’t hold me to that, the Adidas masks have a slot so you could easily add the extra cloth if you wanted and they seem good qua

Hasn't had enough use to require that just yet.
If it isn't being clogged with dust, the filter would last for ages.

Aha. Practical thinking. I've tried cleaning in many times. Unfortunately the dust remains. Needs a full refurb, which I can't be asked to do.

Could try an air filter or purifier of some sort : machinemart.co.uk/p/r…-r/

Or just a fan with an HVAC filter sellotaped to it.

If dust is coming from the fabric of the building spray it with pva, paint or something to bind it, especially if it is an asbestos roof or somesuch!

I have a Respro Cinqro respirator for cycling, this GVS here & a 3M 6300 respirator (6000 series "large").

All would work, although funnily the the latter two would be comfier, with the GVS being the coolest to wear, but the 3M is probably comfier but bulkier with fairly large external filters (2135 or 2138) & greater face contact which adds to heat.

I think the GVS is going to replace my Cinqro for cycling, as its comfier & you feel no resistance breathing through it at all (the 3M also has no feeling of resistance, but looks too big).

If you are buying one, check the fitting specs for sizes first, as the GVS comes in two sizes & with two filter options (there are others that take larger filters), & the 3M comes in 3 sizes, & will take the entire range of their filters using a bayonet style attachment.

A downside with respirators is although the protect the wearer, they don't really comply with the "mask" spec, as when you exhale the valve puts it out directly into the surrounding air again. Cheaper respirators can also have the exhale valve jam open if they get too wet, which means they bypass the filters & are pointless. You might want to check yours isn't doing this.

The 3M 7000 series has a downward pointing exhale valve, which would partly solve this.

The crazy thing is to make this comply with the entire purpose of any mask requirement, would mean having something covering the exhale valve.

I never noticed any difference in breathing wearing this. The white bits are corrugated like car air filters & there is no feeling of resistance at all. I have a Cinqro mask for cycling & it has greater resistance (& skin contact) than the GVS.

I found THIS review interesting.
The GVS was no worse than the alternatives when it came to protection of others.
I wouldn't normally use this rag as a source of authority but the review does seem to have been undertaken by someone suitably qualified.
