buy a return or 2 singles Accrington to Preston on any website or in person. then search on here for transpennine express - i posted a deal , book Preston to Edinburgh with them On their app, leaving at least ten mins changing time in Preston. extremely cheap, even first class

Plenty of cheap tickets still available. I've just checked one of the most popular journeys on this route, Bristol to London, and picked 9th March as a random date to check. £10 tickets are available on eight different trains leaving Bristol before 10AM, plus on most other trains for the rest of the day. Returning from Paddington there are £10 tickets available on the last five trains of the day.

This is for travel on GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY only. That would by by Virgin East Coast. Their sale was a few weeks ago. Not GWR. That would be Northern and Virgin or Transpennine. Not GWR. That would be Crosscountry Trains or Arriva Wales. Not GWR. There were loads of cheap tickets when this offer went live a couple of weeks ago. You just have to understand what the offer is, something most people don't seem to understand. If you don't know which train company operates your local routes, there's a map here:

lol, worst deal ever. tickets from Reading are DOUBLE normal price!!!!!!!

Cost of tickets is a joke: Reading to Paddington return peak is £52 (how can they justify that!) and you NEVER get a seat and are lucky to get on the train. Reading to Paddington is Europe's busiest commuter route/railways line.

when you can buy SWT tickets on megabus for 90p from London to Devon

It's pretty wise having your bike when travelling on GWR as when the train breaks down you have a plan B

Thanks very much for this!

The Govt and Media - You should all use public transport. The train operators - Let's fleece the public! The public - Stuff it. I'll drive. This is a good deal and I wish thereally were more like it. I would love to use the trains more often but they're simply too expensive, especially if you want spur of the moment travel.

Just what I needed. Thanks! :)

Booked to go to Devon to see the family with the wife, unfortunately no deals on the Friday going down and was cheaper to get a standard single coming back on the Sunday with the Two Together railcard.

Only on singles from what I can see

used it the other day from Plymouth to Penzance and worked fine for me. used a VPN to stream and do anything i wanted ;) speed wasn't always great but a quick check gave me 6meg down and 1 up. always use a VPN!!

Full bars everywhere on the train, catch is that a strong WiFi signal doesn't mean you'll get a good experience, that comes down to which part of the countryside you're going through and especially, how crowded the train is.

Where is the best place to sit to get best performance, is there an iPhone app to show signal strength, not just bars.

you get a virgin code if you book through them, east coast main line is good bit west coast is hopeless

It'd be interesting to know if the GWR system is like the one the media people use, that merges date from any of several networks depending on local signal.

Where did you find the Newquay fares?? There price I'm finding is more expensive than a flight.

As a Swindoner I should be aggrieved by this, but can only chuckle. But a first class ticket out of here is fantastic. Hot!

First class to Swindon - perhaps the truest example of it being more about the journey than the destination.

Thanks, just booked a decent return to Newquay.

Great Western Railway Ticket Sale from £10

Try different dates/times. I think they have a limited number of sale tickets. They're probably all gone for the date you're looking at. On a similar subject, looking at trains from London - Exeter, sale price is £18 but there are £14 tickets on slightly slower "overtaken" trains. Anyone know if there's any disadvantage to the even cheaper tickets, other than speed? According to the terms, you can change the £14 ticket for a fee, but don't seem to be able to change the £18 sale ticket at all.

trying to book bristol-oxford-bristol and the cheapest it gives me on the offered days is 40 quid. Normal price. What's going on? Anyone?

I don't think GWR do any advance fares from London to Reading so this sale does not cover that. Also you can't buy a cheap advance ticket to Bristol and then get off at Reading! I've tried twice and both times had to pay the fare difference at the ticket barrier as it is against the t&cs of the advance ticket - just like the open jaw flights!

Thanks op I will make use of this deal ...I only use megabus because of the cost of the train but at this price i will definitely use the train..

Fantastic deal, just saved £56 on a journey I intend to make in June. Thanks OP

Quite a decent sale as I found london to cardiff for only £15 one way! Seems to be an actual sale unlike some other train companies who advertise the usual price as "sale" price!

well I would have bought Weston to Paddington but i couldn't find tickets cheaper than £80 ! if any one finds date please let me know

Thanks OP. Got some £10 tickets for Bristol to Reading. Great deal.

One way from Swansea to London Paddington is just £15, or £30 for a return, departing 26th Jan and returning 27th Jan. Absolute bargain given the distance!

Agreed did Reading to Paddington - laughable £50.10 a day (£127 for a week) - for 3 months - regular service but often late and ridiculously overcrowded

Excellent a £1 fare during the Easter break! Thx OP

I've just checked with FGW Customer Services about boarding at intermediate stations such as Reading or, in my case, Slough. I was told that it is "point to point only", Paddington to Oxford or vice-versa. Boarding / alighting at intermediate stations is not permitted. I pointed out that this restriction is not obvious within the offer and needs to be more prominently displayed, and I was then told that I would find the restrictions within the "Mobitix" and "Print at Home" terms and conditions! Since the rail industry's cynical "Simpler Rail Fares" publicity campaign a year or so ago there have been quite a number of these seemingly illogical offers. This one has cropped up because FGW feels the need to compete with the cheap coach services between London and Oxford as well as potential rail competitors. As the coaches don't stop at Slough or Reading or any of the small stations, FGW doesn't see any need to reduce fares from these places. Some will remember the well-deserved bad publicity last year for South West Trains when they "fined" a couple more than £100 for "getting off two stops early" whilst using a similar bargain ticket between Waterloo and Southampton. I fear that until the rail industry's fare regulators take an interest, this nonsense will continue. Nonetheless, this is certainly a good deal for those able to take advantage of it.

I DONT KNOW WHY DONT YOU LOOK??? and stop shouting!
