Talking about cleaning. Can white gold be cleaned?

It can. But if it's turning a slightly yellowish colour then you won't get it back to the shiny silver without re-plating. All gold is the colour of gold. White gold is plated with Rhodium to make it 'white', which eventually wears off, especially if rubbing against another ring. Most high street jewellers can arrange a re-plate.

Maybe the appendage that's been inserted into it has ruined it and it might be too fragile to give it a good buffing?
Is this nationwide ?

You don't say when today is. If you mean today as in 23/9/19, then its expired.

Just stating 'today' will mean that whenever anyone reads it they will think it's that day!

White gold is unlikely to be cleaned instore due to the fact that any rubbing in the surface takes plating off. The only time that something of white gold metal would be cleaned in store would be if it had diamonds in and they can put that into machine that shakes dirt from under them. Any cleaning of white gold, including trying to buff a scratch out would take the metal back to yellow. I used to work in Ernest Jones and this was asked a lot. Hope this helps.

my husband got some cleaning solution for silver as he had to clean silver trophies and i did think that may work on white gold but just as well i didn't do it as it would have ruined the bracelet! guess i have to leave the scratches as they are. i feel a bit gutted that i scratched the bracelet but i didn't think gold could scratch so i wore the bracelet when i was moving stuff around and didn't look after it, thinking it was fine
I guess metal watch straps are out of the question...

I got my much-loved/heavily-scratched white gold ring re-plated and the scratches were a lot less pronounced afterwards - try that? I wouldn't recommend getting it done at H Samuel though as they thoroughly messed up the plating the first time I went to them, and then actually tried to convince me that plating is supposed to look rough and uneven in both texture and colour. After I told them I'd had my ring re-plated enough times to know what it's supposed to look like they sent it back to be done again

The scratches are only small scratches and you would only see them if you examined the bracelet. I thought you could clean it like jewellery but it doesn't work like that. Is replating expensive? The bracelet is obviously a lot bigger than a ring, so it will be several times the cost I would guess.

Re-plating my ring wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be, but as you say a bracelet is bigger. I would ask a couple of jewellers for a quote to know for sure They would be able to better advise you how much it would improve the scratches too.
