So if I was to put hue in these I could just turn them on and off but need to use the hue system to dim? (Not sure if hue even make the right bulbs for this hmm)

Yes you can use Hue bulbs. Just leave it on and never touch the lamps or do some DIY and concert the lamp from touch to manual switch.
My side table is now cluttered with smart display, phone, remote controls for tv, hue light, soundbar, firestick, tower fan etc. I use hue remote if I need dim light. Rarely read books. Just trying to think why would I need table lamp for.

You need dimmable bulbs
Led ?
These might be ideal for my new bedroom
Was gonna buy them but Argos don't actually seem to sell the bulbs to go into them...

Not always, but if you buy dimmable LED bulbs you're in with a good shout Argos do sell them, or you can pick them up from Ebay etc.

I've had dimmable LEDs in mine for years and they work fine. I tried a few different ones and the do buzz slightly when dimmed but that is a draw back to the bulbs rather than the lights. Even in a quiet room, reading, I barely notice it. If you are watching TV or something similar you definitely won't hear it.

(Something like this would work - amazon.co.uk/Phi…0RE)

Thx
Ordered thanks
Ate these lamps compatible with bed side cabinets or just for tables?
I got these lamps when they were on offer before.

Work as advertised (I use LED bulbs so dimming doesn't work well*) however, they were smaller than I imagined and the shade is very low so if you're at a bit of height you'd get the bulb's full glare.

* Interestingly it flickers for one of the settings in one lamp but not the other even though I used the same new bulbs for both lamps

Have had these for a few years, tried two different types of Led bulbs, one just flickered and the other smoked a little, so keep it with the older style if you do get them.

Except the circuit requires a load for tungsten bulbs not led

No. I got some and they buzzed. Needs halogens 🏻
Thanks, seen these for 20 elsewhere and my bedroom is now finished with this purchase. Heat added
I have a pair and they dim with right bulbs.
If you shop around they are cheap enough but I'd aim for golf ball size ones
I did buy these in the end, plus bulbs from amazon, seems to work very nicely base is a little bit curved oddly enough, I'll have to be careful not flail them over with my clumsiness!
