People are allowed an opinion you know!

There's having an opinion that's civilised and then there's using sites like this as a platform to vocalaise complete hatred!!...I know which one you are!!

At the end of the day, whether or not people agree with halal meat, it shouldn't detract from this being a deal. Tbh, I don't know if it is a deal as I haven't a clue on costs for halal meat so I won't vote either way

Civilised opinion is something you are allowed to have as long as you never vocalise it...welcome to Britain (_;)

fresh halaal kebabs are probably the best tasting and healthy meat but I must admit I have never tasted anything halaal that's frozen which cannot be described as anything but disgustingly unhealthy and fowl tasting especially meat

But this guy is completely spamming the board. OP - You wanna put Fultons whole price list up a bit at a time?
I get *you* are getting a bargain there, but seriously? This is just frozen junk food cheap - and you gotta cook it yourself.

So saying people are allowed opinion gives you the ability to " know which one I am". You should go on Britain's Got Talent.

They are usually mixed meat ones . Like lamb/chicken/beef offcuts mixed.

so you are saying, someone can not post more than one deal. imagine that as well, having to cook your own food as well.

So why do people have a problem with halal?

Sheikher

So why do people have a problem with halal?

Because they see the label. Most happily eat non-labelled halal every day, and it doesn't affect them at all. When they see halal though they get offended because they think other people are offended by them not eating it. Or something like that, I dunno. Certainly a lot of outrage, but usually outrage at another outrage that there is no proof exists.

But its not because they don't like Muslims, thats for sure. Definitely not that.

To be honest, I'm not sure kebab shops are halal anyway. I've asked a few 'what's in your donner kebab' they say 'meat' so I respond 'What meat?' 'Don't know but it's Halal'. So they don't know what's in it but know that it was slaughtered correctly.
Yes that makes sense.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2009/jan/27/doner-kebabs-fat-salt-pork

"Six kebabs tested by local councils contained pork, in a dish that originates from a predominantly Muslim country and that many people assume to consist of lamb. Two of these even claimed to be Halal."

It's quite cruel according to some reports...when done properly and authentically by a master halal butcher I expect the suffering would be minimal, but that just ain't going to happen on a large scale so the animals will be thrashing around in pain...that ain't right. Also, it should not be sold in supermarkets unless clearly labelled, and that ain't happening either...it's cheaper to just do everything 'halal' rather than set up 2 production lines. I'm not a Muslim, I don't live in a Muslim country so I shouldn't really have to eat bizarrely (...to me at least (_;) ) prepared meat...seems fair to me

Getting a balanced view before making judgement, and I'm not saying you didn't, is important:

http://failedmessiah.typepad.com/failed_messiahcom/2012/01/israeli-study-claims-to-prove-that-stunning-prior-to-slaughter-is-inhumane-456.html

If the vets are saying it is inhumane, what are they basing this on? a study or their perceptions?
And a vet's job is to look after animals so eating them will cause them issues.

The scientist? I'd like to hear/read from...

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, it's just sometimes the way it can xome across can seem inconsiderate to the beliefs of others. It's not difficult to vocalise one's thought without being disrespectful...I've seen far too much of that on this site unfortunately. I totally agree that labelling should be clearer as a lot of food is halal without being labelled as such, because equally people do not agree with slaughter methods (and welll within their rights) but this isn't the forum to thrash that out.

There is very little difference in halal and non-halal slaughter in this country, bar the prayer. Animals still thrash around in pain, they still fail to get stunned and go through it all conscious, its all rather horrible TBH. The prayer is nonsense unless you believe, the rest is remarkably similar. The meat doesn't change in any way, the only real difference is the religious context.

dont forget also that once the animal is killed the halal method, blood is drained out as much as possible. we know toxins etc are contained in the blood. so if most of the blood is removed then the halal meat will contain less toxins and technically also make the meat 'SLIGHTLY healthier'. and one important fact about halal slaughter most people seem to ignore or forget is that you are not allowed to sharpen your knife in front of the animal and also not allowed to kill the animal in front of other animals that are due to be killed ie. they need to be killed in isolation. thus emotionally and mentally not causing further stress to the animals.

and to those who actually want to have a brief knowledge of what halal slaughter is about, check this video out where our known british reporter Dawn Porter investigates so much so as she ended up having a positive outlook to it describing it as 'more humane' after experiencing first hand what it really is:

enjoy!

I don't buy this ''slightly healthier'' garble you're talking. Which study have you come up with to get to this conclusion?. That i know if, there is not a single independent study confirming what you're saying. Please show a link to confirm that its healthier so i can look into this?.

In my opinion a halal slaughtered animal will drain the same amount of blood as a pre stunned animal. When the animal is stunned, in 99.9% of cases its still alive and not dead. Which means its still pumping the same amount of blood out of the carcass as a non stunned halal slaughter would.

Also if its ''slightly healthier'' you'd agree then that Muslim countries should have a far greater life expectancy to non Muslim countries, right?. Lets compare:

Morocco 99.9% Muslims - 72 years (the highest life expectancy of a majority Muslim country i could find)
Iran 99.7% Muslims - 72 years (the highest life expectancy of a majority Muslim country i could find)
America 97% NON Muslim and Jews - 78 years (A randomly picked country without even checking who's top)
Denmark 95% NON Muslim and Jews - 80 years (A randomly picked country without even checking who's top)

Most people know that Americans have an awful diet. Their meat is even banned from the UK, oh and they eat pork.

There's absolutely nothing that i know of which backs up what you're saying........

So i still believe ritual slaughter whether that be Halal or Kosher or other stupid backwards people that slaughter meat like this to be barbaric and inhumane.

Surely the animal will produce loads of stress hormones as it slowly bleeds to death in agony by not being stunned before it has its throat cut.
That will taint the meat and affect its taste.

I think that most people in the UK would prefer to eat meat from humanely slaughtered animals than from those that are ritually slaughtered.

Most halal in the UK is now stunned, about 15% is not and that's the stuff from the small manufacturers. Pretty much every large abattoir now stuns, personally I think it should be all.

Human rights, animal rights have been advanced over centuries in Britain. Laws passed over years of campaigning.
Then people come to Britain and say we do not agree with your laws we want to bring the tradition of our village which have not advanced since the Middle Ages. And we say, OK no problem.
I have difficulty in understanding this tolerance.

You're badly mistaken if you think most animals are stunned.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/religion/11378667/Sharp-rise-in-halal-abattoirs-slaughtering-animals-without-stunning-them-first.html

If they can get it their way when the cameras are not watching, they will do it without the stunning. It takes 2 minutes for a cow to lose consciousness once its throat is slit. They feel their own blood draining from its neck. Its barbaric and inhumane.

If i was on death row and i had the choice of getting stunned then the throat slit, or just get the throat slit, i know which one i would choose.

In the UK, 84 per cent of Halal meat comes from animals which have been stunned before slaughter and certified Halal highlighting that stunning and slaughter for religious purposes can work together.
